All they; want is a few cigarettes, or a pair j of skates, or a rumble seat, or a! picture show. 1 am talking about boys under 10 years of age. Boys older than 10 are men nowadays, and you know the rest. When I was a kid. 1 prided my self on having more grass-hopper legs In my pockrt than any other 5 boya, white and black. In our community. I recall that I owned several pah's of grass-hopper legs that were of the saw-tooth variety and they measured over 3 Inches long. Folks, then was legs for yon;' everybody talked about them; I was also strong for snake hides that had been shed, I usually car ried all of these rarities In my shirt, bosom, wrapped up In shucks. They made a great display when I spread them out on the ground. I have owned as many as 250 snake doctors. I strung my wings on a string and It was a beautiful sight, those wings--dangling about In the breeaes—from bcd-tlck galluses. I thought pretty well of cotton tails, that Is, the rear appendages of rabbits. They were very much like the present day powder puffs our girls use. But the only thing I did with them was—tickle the boys and girls on the back of their necks In school or elsewhere, If they were there. I accumulated 35 frog eye balls once and made myself a cute string of beads, but they dlddcnt wear very well. The best toys I ever had were mud turtle and terrapin (then call ed tair-pin! snouts.
