Miss Rachel Wells returned home yesterday from Greenville where she has been spending several days visiting Miss Lois Belgh Scott and Mrs. Louis Ballentine. while at tending the finals at Clemson col lege. ‘•Jit’’ Benton has returned to the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary F. Benton here after spending some time in Richmond, Va. Mrs. Reid Misenheimer and Mrs. L. J. Mr. and Mrs. James Hopper, Miss es L<j^e Morrison and Evelyn Blanton have returned home after spending several days attending the commencement exercises at the Woman’s college, Greensboro. They were accompanied home by Miss Claudia Ware of Reidsville and Miss Mary Kate Allen of Ansonville, who will be the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hopper during the remainder of this week. Little Dorothy Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred R. Ti#ner, underwent an operation for the re moval of her tonsils at the Shelby hospital this morning Miss Marietta Hoyle is expected home tomorrow from E. C. T. C. at Greenville w-here she has been a student. She will spend the summer here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hoyle. Mrs. W. P. Benton and children of Charlotte are here spending a few days with Mrs. Mary F. Benton. Mrs. Harry Hudson is confined to her home this week with an attack of influenia. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson will go to Charlotte this afternoon where Dr. Wilson plans to take a study course in optometry. Mrs. Troy McKinney leaves today for Asheville to spend two weeks visiting her parents. Mr. R. H. Boyles, who has been a patient for sometime in the Char lotte Sanatorium is somewhat im proved and is returning to his home here this week. Miss Louise Leonard of Albemarle is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Giles Webb this week. Mrs. J. T. Gardner has returned home after spe^ lug several days at Lenoir where she went to attend a reunion of her class at Daven port college. Bill Blanton has returned home after visiting Dr. and Mrs. T. J. Summey in Philadelphia and spend ing several days in New York City. r Mrs. Charles Wells and Charles Wells, Jr., spent the day yesterday In Spartanburg, S. C„ where they visited the former's aunt, Mrs. J. L Carson. Mrs W. H. Hudson and children. Hill, jr., and Mary Alice, and Miss Etta lie Moses are leaving the last of the week for Georgia to spend the week-end with relatives. Mrs. Hudson, who has been there two weeks on a visit, will return home with them next week. Miss Eudora Dover. Miss Sara Pittman, and J. R. Dover, jr., all of Rock Hill, S. C. spent the day Sunday here visiting Miss Mildred Harrell. Dr. E. K. Mel,arty and two sons. Rev. James McLartv and Furman McLarty left yesterday for Durham to attend the alumni banquet and meeting last evening. They will re turn home tonight, accompanied by a thtrd son of Dr. and Mrs. Mc Larty, Emmett McLarty vPTto is n student in the Duke university grad uate school of religion. Mrs. F. B. Ropp and son, Paul, are visiting relatives in Columbia. S. C. this week. They wllll be ac companied home the latter part of the week by the former's sister. Mrs. W. H. Jones, and little daugh ter, Betty, of Waynesville, Ga., who will spend sometime here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ropp and Mr. and Mrs. James Henderson. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Webb, Jr. and daughter, Ann Taylor, are expected to return home Sunday from a visit to Mrs. Webb’s mother at Winton, and to other relatives In Eastern Carolina. Mrs. E. A. McAdoo left this morn ing for her home in Greensboro after visiting her brother, Mr. J. C. McNelly and Mrs. McNeely here. Miss Virginia McNeely returned to Greensboro with her for a ten days visit, and they were accompanied as far as Charlotte by Mr. McNeely, who is there today on a business trip. Mr. and Mrs. Atkin Poston have moved from the home of the lat ter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Boat on S. LaFayette street, into the Hendrick apartment house on Sumter street. Little Martha Lee Hudson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jottn Hudson, is in the Shelby hospital where she had her tonsils removed this morn ing. Mrs. Frank Colwell and little daughter, Dolly, left today to re turn to their home at Clinton aft er spending a week here visiting Mr. and Mrs’. Ed McCurry at their home in Belvedere Heights. Miss Dorothy Randall has return ed home after spending her vaca tion in Gastonia and Charlotte. While away she visited Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lowder*Mr. and Mrs. John A. Hunter, jr. and Rev. and Mrs. R. L. Forbis of Gastonia, and her uncle, Thomas R. Shuford, of Charlotte. Mrs. F. C. Bordeaux and children of Columbia, S. Rush Hamrick, and Mr. Ham rick, Mrs. Dorothy McBrayer Ragland is spending today in Tryon in con nection with putting on the legion beauty pageant there.
