Belwood News Of Current Week Mission Society Meet*. Surprise Birthday For Mr*. Norman. Birth Annnonced. (Special to The Star.) Belwood, June 22—Mesdames Clyde Powell and Wilbur Lutz were joint hostesses to the members of the Kadesh Missionary society at Kadesh church Friday afternoon. An Interesting program was render ed. After the business meeting the hostesses were assisted by Mes dames Roscoe Dixon and Wane Brackett in serving an iced and sweet course. Mrs. Roscoe Peeler is in the Lln * colnton hospital where she under went an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. C. T, Goodman had the mis fortune to loee a fine mule last week. Among those on the sick list are Mrs. Carrol Beam. Miss Hazel Rich ard and Mrs. John Tillman and Mrs. M. J. Wellmon. Mr. and Mrs. Brevard Falls and Mr. Ralph Falla of Atlanta, Ga. spent aeveraT days the past week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Falls. They were accompanied home by Miss Martha Falls to spend some time. Misses Pearl Gantt and Nanie Lou Goodman spent Friday after noon with Mrs. Robert Wallace of Lawndale. Some Farmers To Fight Cotton Plar Gastonia.’—A hurried partial can vass of cotton growing sections of Gaston county revealed that while a considerable number of local growers are disposed to approve the recently announced government plan of cotton crop curtailment, the growers of the county as a whole are by no means solidly behind the plan. It all devolves, according to County Agent L. B. Altman, into the fact that farmers who have a good stand of cotton are not will ing to plow any part of it under for the bonus offered in the gov ernment plan, while farmers whose cotton is doing badly are ready to Join in without. further delay. South Carolina Town Gets R. F. C. Loan Washington, June 22— Loans for self-liquidating projects approved by the R. F. C., today included: to the Neptune Utilities company. Meetings To Be Held Of Rutherford Men Rutherfordton, June 22.—Meet ings for the discussion of the cotton reduction plan will begin next Mon day, and will continue nightly until Friday in this county. Each meet ing will begin promptly at eight o’clock. An agricultural teacher or the county agent will attend the meet ings in order to explain the plan to farmers.
