dent Roosevelt, Jones said in a
formal statement that the corpova

At Statesville the court house
was crowded to overflowing and
the speaker was introduced by
James A. Hartness. former secretary
of state. The meeting was presided
over by Z. V. Turlington, of
Mooresville, author of the state
prohibition law.
Approximately 1,000 people heard
Judge Webb at Gastonia where hie
speech was broadcast over the Gas
tonia radio station. His speech was
opening the campaign in Gaston
county for the dry forces. Fred L.
Smyre. well known Gaston textile
executive and chairman of the dry
forces in that county, presided and
introduced Judge Webb.
