On Friday Mrs. Hamrick wore a
costume consisting of black velvet
dress and hat: and on Saturday
Mrs. Wilson was dressed in electric
blue crepe with silver trimmings,
with which she wore hat to match.
At each of the parties the hon
oree’s place was marked with a
shoulder bouquet of pink roses.

happy surprise to their hosts of
, friends in both Carolines was that
of Miss Reba Lee of Shelby, N. C„
who has been in training at the
Pryor hospital at Chester for
the last two and one-half years, to
J. W. Yandle, popular young man
of Charlotte, N. C. The ceremony
;was performed on October 22, last,
at Rock Hill.
Mrs. Yandle is a beautiful and
popular young woman, being a
daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. D.
Lee of Shelby. Since coming to
Chester, she has made many
friends.
Mr. Yandle holds a position with
an electric company, and is sta
tioned at Lyman, S. C.. where they
will make their home.

nessa, and one on “Justices of the
Supreme Court" by Mrs L. P
Holland.
At the close of the program a
t social half hour was enjoyed when
Mrs. McBrayer. assisted by her two
daughters. Misses Ruby and Agnes
McBrayer, served an elaborate
salad course with sandwiches and
sweets
The living room where the guests
assembled was effectively decorated
with Christmas greenery and em
blems.

Of Library Association
Mrs. M. Webb®Riley, retiring
president of the Library associa
tion, entertained members of the
association on Saturday afternoon
at an Informal business and social
meeting, when officers for the In
coming year were elected. Mrs. 8.
S. Royster was elected to succeed
Mrs. Riley as president, and the
following officers were re-elected:
Mrs. Fred Morgan, vice president;
Mrs. Nelson Lattimore, secretary;
Mrs. B. T. Falls, treasurer, and
Miss Stella Murchison, librarian.
Miss Murchison was also elected
chairman of the book committee
to succeed Mrs. R. W. Morris, re
tiring chairman. This committee
includes Miss Murchison. Mrs. Mor
rison, Mrs. Falls, Miss 8elma Webb,
Mrs. B. A. Lefler and Mrs. Otto
Long.
Following the business session a
social half hour was enjoyed dur
ing which Mrs. Riley served tea.

Mrs. Edgar Hamrick, attractive
bride of recent months, was the

Friday afternoon, given by her cou
sin, Miss Ruth Laughridge. Eight
tables were arranged about the
lower floor. The Christmas idea
was observed in decorations and In
the color note on refreshment
plates.
At the close of the afternoon
prises were awarded to Mrs. Ham
rick, as honoree; to Mrs. Lee Nolan
for scoring high and to Mrs. F. O.
Smith for scoring second high.
Two out-of-town visitors who
enjoyed this hospitality were: Miss
Margaret Joyner of Canton, holiday
guest of Mrs. Hamrick, and Miss
Ruth Brown, of Anderson, 8. C.,
guest of her sister. Mrs. Jessie
White.

were served at the close of the
games.

Greene, better known as "Uncle
Seaton" a prominent farmer of this
community died at his home Wed.
nesday at 12:45 o'clock. Mr. Greene
was 75 years, eight months and 19
days of age. Funeral services1 were
conducted at t>,e Sandy Plains Ban
tist church Thursday afternoon at
3 o’clock by Rev. W. A. Elam ot
Shelby assisted by Rev. .1. w
Bridges. Mr. Greene had been in ill
health for several years and had
been confined to his bed eleven
weeks.
Those surviving are: his wile
and two children, Charlie and El.
