Bonds Under 5%
Offered By State
<mm -—
Raleigh, Jan. 9.—North Carolina
bonds, for the first time In more
than a year, have been offered at a
lower rate than 5 per cent, Charles
M. Johnson, state treasurer, re
ports.
“None of them were offered high
er than 4.90 per cent and most of
them w#re offered at 4.85 per cent,"
Treasurer Johnson said. These of
ferings indicate that the state
bonds are getting back to normal
rapidly, due to the fact that the
state balanced its budget, even with
the obnoxious sales tax, and has
recently met all of Its obligations,
including payment of more thaif
$6,000,000 in bonds and interest due
