Birth Announced. Peraons On Sick List. (Special to The Star.) Beaver Dam. Deb. 21.—The regu lar weekly teachers meeting met with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Humphries on last Thursday night. Miss Laura' Pyron taught the lesson. The meet ing this week will be at the home of Mrs. J. B. Pyron. Mrs. Ralph Hayes will teach the lesson. Our church was host to the quar terly district meetipg of district No. 1 of the B.Y.P.U. association on lest Friday night. There was a very good attendance from several churches The banners were awarded to churches as follows: Attendance to Poplar Springs. Junior banner to Poplar Springs, intermediate and senior banner to Lattimore union There has been quite a bit of sickness in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Bowen’s baby has been very sick with pneumonia, but is better at this writihg. Little Charles Blanton has bc»n sick but is better, Sarah Nan Mor gan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. Z. Morgan is very sick, Mrs. Carl Padgett has been very sick. Mr. and Mrs. Brach Ashley's children have been sick with colds and flu. Mtso Zola McCurry is conffted to her bed with flu. Mr. and Mrs. J. L Blanton and Mr. R. W. McCurry spent last Fri day in Gastonia with their mother Mrs. J. L. McCurry at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Short. Born recently to Mr. and Mrs. Broughton McGinnis a daughter. Francis Hildegarde. Mrs. McGinnis was formerly Miss Dorothy Latti more. Mrs. D. J. Glasco spent the week end with her mother Mrs. E. A. Mrs. Jarrett’s many friends will be sorry to learn her condition is still unchanged. She was taken to the Lincolnton hos pital Sunday afternoon for treat ment. Mesdanics Blanton and Cal lahan accompanied those carrying Mrs. Jarrett to the hospital. The intermediate B.Y.P.U. en joyed a social at the home of Mr R. W. McCurry on Thursday night. Several games and contests were enjoyed after which refreshments were served. Several visitors were present. The regular monthly meeting of the young ladles class of Sharon Methodist church was entertained by Misses Louise, Thelma and Buna Blanton, on Tuesday night at their home west of Shelby. The president Miss Thelma Blanton presided over the business meeting. The meeting was turned over to Miss Ila Mr-! Moorehead. Also on the program were Miss Buna Blanton. Miss Stel la Mae Smith and Mrs. Olenn Blanton. After the program a so cial hour was enjoyed. The hostesses assisted by lltt.t Patsy Ann Blanton served drllcloiw refreshments.
