59 Are Killed
In N. C. Wrecks
J RALEIGH, May 22. Automobile
! wrecks claimed 59 lives in North
1 Carolina during April, bringing to
’ 267 the total for the year to May
1, the motor vehicle bureau report
ed today.
There were 319 accidents during
April in which 460 persons were in
jured in addition to the 59 killed.
The toll for March was 78 killed
and 358 injured.
Drunken drivers figured In eight
of the fatal accidents last %onth
and in 44 wrecks In which persons
