sult of an increasing number of
traffic acrid Aits in and around
Gastonia, the rtt.y council announc
ed it had ordered launched imme
diately an intensive war on reck
less driving.
"There arp entirely too many ac
cidents In the city," said Mayor E.
B. Denny. ‘There Is a crash at some
street corner nearly every day, and
it appears that our automobile
drivers are becoming grossly care
less and reckless in the manipula
tion of their cars."
After a lengthy discussion, the
council instructed City Manager H.
Rutter to give the city police de
partment orders to institute a con
tinuous campaign to enforce all
traff/’ laws to the letter. It was
emphasized that this was not to
be a spasmodic campaign, but one
in active enforcement 24 hours every
day.
