Couple Esc A Shallotte couple escaped serious injuries last Thursday morning after their 1S74 Kord Pinto station wagon skidded out of control and ended on its side in e ditch on U.S. 17 south of Supply. Gilbert H. Kitchen, 78, and Jessie D. Kitchen, 74, were both taken to the Brunswick Hospital in Supply with minor injuries by the Shallotte Kescue Squad following the one-car accident. Dove's report, Sheppard's car struck ttie side of a 1976 White tractor trailer truck driven by Micky Ray Hodges, 34, of Inland. Dove rcDorted Hodves stated he was backing into a driveway when he saw the Sheppard vehicle approaching. Hodges said he tried to drive his truck out of the way of the Sheppard vehicle. Sheppard told Dove he did not sec the truck until it pulled from the driveway. Dove charged Hodges with failure to yield the right of way. The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. A I eland man was charged with DWI eurly Saturday morning after his 1973 Chevrolet struck the rear of another vehicle 6.3 miles west of Belvllle on KPR 1426. James Roscoe Soles, 43, was charged after his truck ran into the rear of a 1973 Chevrolet truck driven by ltoyce Samuel Thomas, 45, of Wilmington, Shite Trooper B.C. Jones reported.
