Ludlum limited the Cougars to just two hits while striking out a career-high 10 batters. Earlier in the week the Trojans opened defense of their Three Rivers 3-A Conference crown with a 5-1 loss at West Columbus. The split left West Brunswick at 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Trojans travel to North Bruaswick Friday in next action but return home Tuesday to host South Robeson. The two games will be the final nonconference tuneups before the Trojans begin a nine-game league stretch. Trojan pitcher Timmy Iridium picked up his first win of the season while going the distance in his first complete game. The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Richie I^belle singled to start the game, stole second and scored on West Brunswick center fielder Henry Stevenson's er ror. The South Brunswick lead stood until the fourth when the Trojans tied the game on the Cougars' third baseman Anthony Jackson's error and Craig Johnson's only hit. The Trojans exploded in the fifth for four rims on designated hitter Alan Stewart's hit and two errors by the Cougars' David Moyer and Scott York and Derek !?cng's double Keith Stanley followed the barrage with a single and Matt tiore cleaned me bases with his two-run double.
