A May 25 jamboree will help
finance Miss Brunswick County's appearance
in the Miss North Carolina
Pageant next month.
Belinda Jacobs of Iceland, a
20-year-old biology major at UNCWilmington,
is the reigning MLss
Brunswick County. The daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Jacobs, she will
compete in the state pageant June
23-30 in Raleigh.
Junior Dowless, chairman of the
Miss Brunswick County Pageant
Association Inc., said the daylong
benefit jamboree will include an arts
and crafts show and sale, a Miss
Bikini contest and a male bodybuilding
content, h?. well 2s ? vsriciy
of concessions. The winners will
receive cash prizes and trophies.
It is the first time, said Dowless,
that the pageant association has attempted
to raise additional funds for
the county pageant winner other than
the $650 initially provided to offset

Pageant gowas cost $1,000 or more,

chance of placing and we want to
help her all we can," he said.
"Hie jamboree was originally proposed
by Ms. Jacob's mother.
"We thought we'd give it a try and j
see how it works," he said.
A small fee will be charged to enter
each contest or to set up a booth.
The Miss Bikini contest is open to
all females age two and older, with
four categories of competition: 2-5,
6-9, 10-13 and 14 and older.
All males ace 14 and older can
enter the body building contest.
Dowless said the U.S.S. Bclville
Band of Iceland will help proviue
entertainment.
A specific site has not been
selected for the jamboree, he added,
but it will most likely be in the Iceland
area.

or who wants to register, is
asked to contact Mrs. Jacobs at
371-2305 or 371-9367.
