At Brunswick Town
The Brunswick County Historical
Society will meet Monday, Aug. 12 at
7:45 p.m. in the Visitors Center at
Brunswick Town.
The program will feature James
Barclay, who will speak on "The Port
of Brunswick." Visitors are welcome
for this and other quarterly programs
on Brunswick County's
history.
The society encourages the study
and preservation of local history and
endeavors to liave all communities
represented in its membership.

A sing-along with "shower
sopranos, bathroom baritones, closet
contraltos and everyone who just
likes to enjoy music" will highlight
the Aug. 12 meeting of the Holden
Beach Senior Citizens.
"If we can't have perfection, we at
least will have enthusiasm!" promised
spokesman Myrtle Hanke.
The group meets at 7 p.m. at the
Seashore Koad home of Virginia
Craig.
Also, the winner of a chicken
scratch quilt made by the group's
Thursday afternoon craft class will
be announced.

A new service organization for
business women, the Pilot Club of the
South Brunswick Islands, officially
organized last week with 21 charter
members.
A formal charter night is planned
Saturday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m., with
all Pilots and their spouses (called
Co-Pilots) to attend.
Officers were installed Tuesday,
July 30, in a ceremony at United
Carolina Bank in Shallotte, with
Virginia Brown of the Wilmington
Pilot Club as installing officer. The
Wilmington club sponsored IocbI
organization, the first Pilot Club in
Brunswick County.
Officers for the newly-chartered
club are Sherry Roseman, president;
