Their report, released last week by United Way "loaned executive*' Joe Hrvant, is an attempt to show the level of spending by member agencies in delivering services to Brunswick County residents. That question was raised by campaign volunteers at a recent drive luncheon as information requested frequently by potential donors. At a minimum, the agencies spent $186,390 in serving 14,377 Brunswick County clients. In some instances, the services were delivered at satellite sites within the county; in other cases, clients traveled to Wilmington for assistance. The American Bed Cross served at least 505 people during its most recently-documented 12-month period, ft spent an estimated $51,000 offering first aid. water safety and other classes. Brunswick County residents used more blood Hum they donated to the bloodmobile program.
