Two Charged With
Two men were t-harKcd with driv
ing while impaired in separate
siiigie-vchicie accidents in
Bruaswick County last week, accor
ding to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
At 2 p.m. March 4, one mile south
of Belville, Terry Boland Edge, 28, of
Winnabow, was traveling south on
N.C. 133 hi a 1979 Pontiac when he
ran off the right shoulder while com
ing out of a right-hand turn and lost
control of the vehicle. He returned to
the roadway, then ran off the left
shoulder. The car struck a tree, a
fence and then another tree, over
turned, and then struck an air condi
tioner and a hou.sc before coming to
rest upside down, according to
Trorgier D.A. I^ewis's report. Edge
was charged with DWI, having no
operator's licen.se and operating left
of center.

Both Edge and a pa.ssenger, Glen
Deltz, 29, also of Winnabow, were
treated for Class A, incapacitating,
injuries at New Hanover Memorial
Hospital In Wilmington. Edge's vehi
cle received an estimated $3,000 In
damages, while the house and other
properly owned by Curtis Elliott of
I.eland received another $3,000 in
damages.
Then, at 5:15 a.m. Saturday,
March 7, Anthony Ray Plante. 22. of
Ung Beach, was southbound on N.C.
133 eight-tenths of a mile south of
Bolling Spring Lakes at an excessive
rate of speed, reported Trooper D.W.
Caulder, when the 1985 Nissan truck
he was driving ran off the right
shoulder as he rounded a left-hand
curve. The truck crossed back to the
left shoulder and traveled up a small
embankment, striking several small
trees. Trooper charged Plante with
DWI and driving left of center.
Plante was uninjured. However,
damages to his truck were estimated
at $950.
Also on Saturday, at 4:30 p.m., two
drivers were seriously injured in an
accident on RPR 1526 (Jabbertown
Road), about 1.3 miles northwest of
Southport.
Tina 1/iuise Jackson, 29, and Ben
jamin Alan Stanley, 16, both of
Southport, were treated for Class A
or incapacitating Injuries at Dosher
Memorial Hospital In Southport
Jackson was entering Jabbertown
Road in a 1985 Nissan auto when she
failed to yield to Stanley, who was
traveling .straight on the road in a
1983 Ford truck.
Jackson, who was charged with a
yield violation, told Trooper J.V.
Dove her view had been obstructed.
Her vehicle received about $2,000
in damages, while damages to
Stanley’s truck were an estimated
$1,500.
Dennis William Domier, 34, of
Raleigii, was charged by Trooper
R.L. Murray with failure to decrease
speed following an accident that oc
curred at 3:40 p.m. Friday, March 6,
on UJS. 17 about onc-tenth mile south
of Bolivia.
James G. Ross, 35, of Plainfield,
Canada, and Conner were both north
bound on U.S. 17 when Ross slowed
and .stopped for traffic ahead and
Conner’s 1986 Oldsmobile struck
Ross' 1986 Ford in the rear.
Damages were estimated at $550 to
the Ross vehicle and $3,000 to the
Conner vehicle.
