Carl Aubrey Johnston. 54, of
Leland, died Aug. 25 at his residence.
The funeral was held Aug. 28 in the
Leland Baptist Church, with Rev.
Billy Buchanan officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery.
Bom in Conway, S.C., on July 25,
1933, he was the son of Mrs. Adlee
Cooper Johnston Carson of Conway,
S.C., and the late Woffard Johnston.
He was a member of Inland Baptist
Church and had been associated with
Daniels Construction.

include his wife, Mrs. Sallie H.
Johnston of the home; two sons, Bob
by Johnston and Carl A. Johnston Jr.,
both of I.eland; two daughters, Mrs.

She was an active member for
many years at the Winter Park Bap
tist Church in Wilmington and a
teacher before her marriage to the
late Clifford Jay Chapman.

Church, with Rev. Roy Brewton of
ficiating.
Survivors include her daughter,

A native of Columbus County, she
was the daughter of the late Rufus

Fall clean-up begins Saturday,
Sept. 5, at the Griffin Cemetery in
Ash.
Those with relatives or other loved
ones buried in the cemetery are ask
ed to participate, said Doris Gore.
She added, "We want all to come
who can because it really needs
cleaning."
Work begins at 7:30 a.m. and
volunteers should bring mowers,
rakes and other yard-care equip
ment.
The cemetery is located on S.R.
1331, Mill Branch Road.
