Stephe Cynthia Loraine Stephens of Castle Hayne and Kevin John Fontenot of Atlanta, Ga., were married Dec. 19 at 6:30 p.m. In Long I^af Baptist Church, Wilmington. The double ring, candlelight ceremony was performed by Dr. David Goodroe. The bride is the daughter of Michael and Opal Stephens of Castle Hayne and the granddaughter of the late Manson and Mortie Smith, formerly of Ash. She is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Aline Hansford of Brunswick and the late Tilman Stephens. Tne groom is the son of Dr. John Fontennt anH Mm Rnrharo Cnnlnnnf oi Houston, Tgass. The couple exchanged vows before a setting of red poinsettias, candlelight and Christmas greenery. The center aisle was flanked with lighted tapers, greenery and satin bows. The bride was given in marriage Lang Dorinda lone l,ang and Dexter Allen Hewett were married Dec. 19, 1987, in a 1 p.m. ceremony at Bethany Temple Church of God, Tarpon Springs, Fla. Pastor Robert E. Varnadore of Bain Bridge, Ga., performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter cf Mr. and Mrs. James L. l,ang of Tarpon Springs, Fla. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Hewett of Holiday, Fla., and the grandson of Ms. Eva Causey and Ms. Eunice White, both of Shallotte. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal gown of sheer polyester with a high collar of Venise lace with Esprit illusion yoke front and back and French pouf sleeves of Chantilly lace. The skirt was of lace UVUI pui) CdlCl ancfl , Willi cl cathedral train accented with scattered pearls. Her waltz-length two-tiered veil with rolled edge was attached to a cap of Aiencon lace trimmed with pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of red and white silk roses with fresh babies' breath. For travel she wore an antique white satin jumpsuit. Chris Lang was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mario Thomas, cousin of the bride; .Jamie Ramsey, cousin of the groom and Pam Hewett, the groom's sister. Faith Thomas, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid, and Tara Comptoon, cousin of the bride, was flower giri. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore dresses of bright red fantanza, with ruffled rear bustle falling into a chapel-length train. The dropped casque waistline flowed into a monarch train of hand-beaded embroidered medallions. Her headpiece was a halo of silk flowers and sprays of pearls accented with a pouf that fell into a fingertip illusion veil scattered with pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of red and white roses, button pompoms, babies' breath, English ivy and sword ferns. Miss Lisa Brady of Wilmington, maid of honor, wore a formal-length gown of red satin that featured a princess styling with a court neckline and leg o'mutton sleeves accented with red satin roses. The groom chose his father as best man. The groom wore a White Heat tuxedo with a white rose boutonierre. Groomsmen were Steve Russell of Wilmington, Warren Garrison of Wilmington and Steve Choplin of Yaupon Beach. An arched candlelabra and two seven-hranch candlebras decorated with red and white roses, babies' breath, fern and red ribbons decorated the sanctuary. Red bows with flower sprays accented pews and windows. Wedding music included "Ilyme," by Vangelis, "Theme From Ice Castles," and "Through the Eyes of Love."
