Club Renews Ef
County 911 Erne
Efforts to obtain a 911 emergency
service in Brunswick County haven't
lapsed.
Approximately 25 people attended
a meeting of concerned citizens last
Wednesday sponsored by the Pilot
Club of South Brunswick Islands.
"We're not dropping it by any
means," said Pilot President Gail
Seagle. "Everyone's just real gungho.
We hope we can go on and get it
implemented, especially since we're
a resort area. Departments get a lot
of wrong calls... if we had 911 it
would be wonderful."
With a 911 system, callers would
simpiy oiai tnosc three numbers
from anywhere in the county to obtain
a variety of emergency services?fire,
rescue or law enforcement.
The system is often combined
with centralized dispatching of units
and a computer information system
that immediately provides the location
from which the call is
originating.
The Pilot Club began pushing for a
911 system more than a year ago.
This year it will continue its efforts,
working in conjunction with the
Brunswick County Fire and Rescue
Association, which has taken on 911
as a major project, added Mrs.
Seagle.
Representatives of the Pilot Club
plan to attend a 7:3(1 p.m. meeting today
(Thursday) of the Fire and
Rescue Association at the Supply
Volunteer Fire Department to help
organize efforts and gain support.

Sacro-iliac slip is often caused by
exertion in the form of attempting
to lift too bulky a load. However, it
can happen from a relatively innocent
act such as stepping off a
curbstone unexpectedly. Pregnant
women are especially susceptible
to sacro-iliac slip since the joints of
the pelvic regions undergo a
gradual softening process just
prior to the time of birth.
Few people actually know what
the sacro-iliac is, but for the sake
of simplicity it can lie described as
the joint between the spine and the
hipbone. This joint is ordinarily so
firm that for centuries it was

The Pilot Club expects to send a

the Brunswick County Commissioners'
meeting.
Those at last Wednesday's meeting
agreed to send letters to fire departments,
rescue squads, The
Brunswick Hospital and senior
citizens groups asking their
members to write the county commissioners

Also, Dr. Harry L. Johnson, director
of emergency services, for The
Brunswick Hospital, offered its support
of the 911 system.
Sheriff John Carr Davis suggested
the Pilot Club contact candidates of
both the Democratic and Republican
parties asking for their support and
action on behalf of the 911 system and
its implementation.
Mrs. Seagle said the county commissioners
are interested in implementing
the 911 system, but are
"dragging their feet" on the countywide
mapping project they say
must be completed first.

believed to be immovable.
However, it is now known that it
can, under circumstances, strain
or slip slightly. This is probably a
safely factor provided by nature to
avoid fracture to another bone.
Symptoms of sacro-iliac slip
may appear immediately, or may
be delayed for some time. Indeed,
the victim may not even equate
these symptoms to the cause due to
the passage of time. Many people
have suffered for months or even
years, undergoing treatments for
various other ailments when the
actual trouble happens to be sacroiliac
slip.
Any persistent or recurring
aches in the lower limbs may be indicated
of sacro-iliac trouble and
the victim should immediately
contact a Doctor of Chiropractic.
