To Hear Prehm I
Bob Prehm, director of The Oaks
at New Hanover Memorial Hospital |
in Wilmington, will be the guest
speaker at the March 28 meeting of
the Calabash VFW Ladies Auxiliary
Post No. 7288.
The meeting will be held at 7:30
p.m. at Ella's Restaurant in
Calabash.
Prehm will present a slide program,
"Helping People See Their
Lives In A New Light," said
spokesman Mary Benes.
Auxiliary members visited the VA
Medical Center in FayetteviUe on
March 12, with President Florence
Cook and her husband Eddie,
Catherine Corrick, Mitzi Bernatski
and Catherine Kielbasa visiting and
playing bingo with patients.
The auxiliary continues taking
Brunswick Village residents to
ceramics classes on Fridays.
'Irish Blessing'
Luncheon Held
The North Myrtle Beach Christian
Women's Club held an "Irish Blessing"
luncheon March 16 at the Beach
Cove Resort.
Seventy-five women heard guest
speaker Karen Apple and soloist
Kevin Woodyard, and a special
feaure by David Roche of the Irish
Shop.
The next luncheon will be held
April 20, with a fashion show and free
nursery. For reservations and information
call Marge Harper in
Shallotte, 754-9856.
Male Pets
Available
Several males are among the pets
up for adoption this week at the
Brunswick County Animal Shelter.
They include a German shepherd,
more than a year old; a mediumhaired
domesticated cat, gray with
white accents; and a longhaired
domesticated cat, black with yellow
eyes. All are described as friendly by
Animal Control Supervisor Zelma
Babson.
These pets and others can be seen
at the from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday at the shelter,
located off N.C. 211 south of Supply.
