assistant agricultural extension
agent, will discuss plants suitable for
use in local landscaping and their
care at the May 5 meeting of the
Calabash Chapter of the American
Association of Retired Persons.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the
Calabash Volunteer Fire Department,
with a question and answer
session to follow Barrow's talk.
Members and guests are asked to
bring a plant to exchange with each
other. Refreshments will be served.

Plans Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Campbell of
Cumberland, Ken., have announced
the forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Wendy Campbell of Route
1, Winnabow, to Tommy Sullivan of
Shallotte, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Sullivan of Route 2,1 .eland.
The wedding will take place May 14
at 5 p.m. at Peace Memorial Baptist
Church, Winnahow. Friends and
relatives of the couple arc invited.
Hope Harbor Slates
Volunteer Training
Hope Harbor Home will hold training
classes for persons interested in
working as volunteers with victims of
domestic violence.
According to Cathy Guidry, director
of the shelter for battered women
artd their children, the training will
consist of 15 hours of classroom training
and additional on-the-job training.
All five sessions must be attended;
make-up sessions will be scheduled if
necessary.
The class will meet in a trailer at
the old Brunswick Community College
administration building located
by Supply Baptist Church on U.S. 17.
Sessions will be held Tuesdays and
Thursdays, May 24, May 26, June 7
and June 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30
p.m., and then Saturday, June 11
from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

gown of white satin with sculptured
V-neck accented with Venice lace,
leg-o'-mutton sleeves. The dropped
waist with lace-accented V-front, fell
into a floor-lenth full skirt adorned
with lace appliques and pearls, forming
a chapel-length train. Her double

and pearls and she carried a
cascading bouquet of silk blue and
yellows roses, tiger lilies, babies'

So many details come together to make
a perfect wedding! For example:
The guest book, sometimes called a
bride's book, is one that all your wed- ff
ding guests will sign; it makes a lovely
souvenir of your wedding day. especially
if it leaves room for loving comments.
It's normally signed at the wedding.
not the reception. How to make
sure everyone signs? Position it at the
end of the receiving line, at the table
where reception guests get their scat
assignments, or have an attendant
assigned to pass it around from table to
table during dinner.
While not strictly in holding with traditional
etiquette, RSVP cards make life
easier for both you and those you invite.
You must include return postage
if you use RSVP cards. A suggestion:
use an index card file to catalogue the
cards as they arc returned; you can
make notes on them as to gifts received
and shuffle them to decide seating
plans.
