Based on a projected property E valuation of $275 million, approxB imately $3 million greater than this year, and a collection rate of 99 percent, the town expects revenues of nearly $463,000 in town taxes next year. According to Crime Prevention Office Don Gates, the sheriff's department received at least one inquiry I last week from a merchant in southern Brunswick County who was approached to buy advertising for a law enforcement-related publication. Gates identified the publication as the State Police Officers' Press. ' I "They (salesmen) infer they're doing fund-raising for us, but they're in no way affiliated with the sheriffs department," he said. The accomodations tax fund is projected at $283,000, about $115,000 less than the current fiscal year. Executive Session Town commissioners also met for approximately 50 minutes in executive session Tuesday to discuss personnel matters. Mrs. Bullington served as mayor of Ocean Isle Beach for 14 years before suddenly leaving the country last August for an extended vacation in the British West Indies. She returned to the area in early April and has been living In Wilmington since then. In making a motion to nominate the former town official. Commissioner Debbie Fox said, "She's as well versed in coastal issues and issues affecting the beach communities as anyone." Desite earlier statements to The Brunswick Beacon that she was not interested in spending the time needed to serve on local and regional boards, Mrs. Bullington has agreed to serve on the commission if appointed, according to Ocean Isle Mayor Betty Williamson. Mrs. Bull| ington could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Prior to leaving the country, Mrs. Bulling ton served four years on the Coastal Resources Commission Advisory Council as the appointee of the Region 0 Cape Fear Council of Governments. The terms of eight members of the 11-member CRC will expire next month.
