To Speak
Conrad Banks, a registered pharmacist,
will be the guest speaker
when the Mall Walkers Club meets
Aug. 25 at Briarcliffe Mall, Myrtle
Beach, S.C.
The meeting begins at 8 a.m. in
Sadie's Steakhouse and Buffet, with
complimentary coffee served.
Banks will discuss medications,
particularly those that member mall
walkers may be taking.
The group is open to anyone who
wishes to exercise through walking in
the comfort of a climate-controlled
environment. Membership is free

food program under the auspices

Agency and administered by
the United Way. Distributions to
local non-profit organizations are
liandled by the Volunteer and Information
Center, a United Way agency,
and are determined by a local FEMA
board comprised of representatives
af non-profit and governmental
organizations. Ouida Hewett is chairman.
Grant recipients must be non-profit
organizations capable of delivering
emergency food and/or shelter,
along with meeting other criteria.

peeial respiratory needs of the
stroke patient, while another

idaptations and hand controls for
those with special needs.
The free program is open to all
stroke victims and their families. It
meets the fourth Wednesday of each
month at the hospital.

Shallotte Moose Lodge will sponsor
a fried chicken dinner on Saturday,
Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at two
locations.
Plates will be available for $3.50
each at both the Moose Lodge on N.C.
130 East (Holden Beach Road) and
on the Ocean Isle Beach Causeway.
Profits will go to replenish the
lodge's charity fund, which is used to ,

To Hold Dinner
Town Creek Volunteer Rescue
Squad will serve fried chicken and
barbecued pork dinners Saturday,
Aug. 20, at the station on U.S. 17 at its
intersection with N.C. 87 South.
The fundraising project begins at
11 a.m. All plates will cost $3.50 each,
with proceeds going to help support
the squad.
The chicken dinner will include
green beans, potato salad and rolls;
the barbecue dinner, coleslaw, candied
yams and hushpuppies.
