The Brunswick Baptist Association
will hold a two-hour evangelism conference
Feb. 27 at First Baptist
Church of Oak Island.
The session opens at 7 p.m. with an
introduction to the "Here's Hope"
1990 simultaneous revival theme.
Then attendees will choose from two
of the three workshops offered. These
cover developing a personal
testimony, sharpening skills in personal
witnessing and planning,
preparing and promoting revivals.

Little River United Methodist
Church broke ground Sunday, Feb.
12, on the first phase of its building
expansion program, said church
spokeswoman Mary Cobb of
Calabash.
Taking part in the ceremony were
the Rev. Franklin D. Hartsell,
pastor; the Rev. Lemuel C. Carter,
Marion District Superintendent of
the United Methodist Church; and
Mike Brazeal of Sunset Beach, chairman
of the church's building committee.
Symbolic shovelfuls of earth
were also turned by building committee
members.
Work was scheduled to begin this
week on the 19-room education and
office wing. Breckinridge Const ruction
Co. of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.,
was awarded the $322,000 contract
for this first phase of the expansion
project.
Phase II of the total $850,000 project
is slated to begin later this year.

The committee is an outreach to
minority citizens in Brunswick County,
responsible for passing on to them
positive accomplishments and contributions
so as to better American
life for all poor people, regardless of
race.
"How Far We Have Come and
Where Are We Going" will be the
theme of the program, which will
featured arts and crafts, cultural annals
and talent exhibitions.
Sybil Mitchell Simmons of Supply,
assistant principal at Waccamaw
Elementary School, will be the
keynote speaker. Other program participants
are Saundra Robinson,
mistress of ceremonies; the Rev.
M.C. Herring, devotional; and
Robert Stanley Jr., soloist. Special
remarks are planned by Presidents
Jessie A. Bryant and Leslie Myrie,
presidents of the Cedar Grove and
Southport-Brunswick County
chapters of the NAACP.
Refreshments and door prizes are
planned and the public is invited.

coordinating the event along with
Bob P. Gore, who represents the
Cedar Grove, Zion Hill and Royal

on July 13, 1910, the daughter of the
late Benjamin and Rebecca Jane
Mills. She was preceded in death by
husbands Edward H. Peterson and
George S. Bordeaux.
Survivors include her son, Carlton
G. Hall of Wrightsville Beach; a
granddaughter, Mrs. Rebecca musso
of Newport, Wash.; and a grandson,
Carlton G. Hall Jr. of Wrightsville
Beach.

Elisabeth D. KLllat, 84, of Route 1,
Supply, died Feb. 16 in The
Brunswick Hospital.

in the Sabbath Home Baptist Church,

cemetery.
She was born on June 24, 1904, in
Hudleburgh, Germany. She was
employed as a seamstress in
Pendleton Mills in Omaha, Neb.,
prior to her retirement. A resident of
Brunswick County for 16 years, she
was a member of Sabbath Home
Baptist Churc.
Survivors include a daughter,
Elisabeth (Trudy) Smith of Supply.
