Memorial Hospital. Wilmington at
9:44 a.m. Aug. 18, he weighed 8
lbs., 7.5 oz. He was 19.5 inches
long.

of Shallotte and the late Leon Watts.
Alpha Ward of Longwood is the
child's great-grandmother.

of their fifth child. Jasmine Ontaria
Simmons, on Aug. 22 at The
Brunswick Hospital at Supply. Bom
at 1:30 p.m., she weighed eight
pounds and was 20 inches long.

of a son, Thomas Michael Condrey.
Born at 5:16 p.m. Aug. 22, in
New Hanover Memorial Hospital,
Thomas weighed eight pounds, nine
ounces at birth and was 22 inches
long.
He has one stepsister, Sharon

Carpenter Yard Is Chosen
The Holden Beach Beautification Committee has selected the yard of Ben and Lib Carpenter at 118 Lion's Paw Drive as the Yard of the Month
for September. The colorful front yard is landscaped with red and white geraniums, oleander and euonymus and features a beautiful lawn.

Hampstead
Honors Spots
One of the smallest fish in the sea
will reign supreme next month at
the North Carolina Spot Festival at
Hampstead. The 26th annual event
is scheduled for Sept. 29 through
Oct. 1.
The festival starts Friday, Sept.
29, with the N.C. Spot Festival
Princess Pageant and a street dance.
On Saturday, festival goers can
enjoy arts and crafts, a security
police guard dog demonstration and
the festival's famous spot fish din
ner. A golf tournament is also on
the schedule of events.
All festival proceeds will support
the Hampstead Community Build
ing, the Hampstead Volunteer Fire
Department and the Pender East
Rescue Squad
