The one-mile fun run begins the
races at 7:30 a.m., followed by the
5-kilometer (3.1 miles) and 10-kilo
meter (6.2 miles) events that start
together after the conclusion of the
one-mile race.
Men's and women's first-place
finishers in the one-mile run will
receive trophies, as will the age
division winners in both the 5-K
and 10-K events.
Second and third-place finishers,
male and female, in each of the five
age groups in the 5-K and 10-K
races will receive ribbons.
Age groups (in the 5-K and 10-K
runs only) include 16-and-under,
17-19, 30-45, 46-59 and 60 and
over.
Registration fee is $8 per person.
Runners registered prior to Oct. 19
receive a free Oyster Festival short
sleeve tee-shirt along with their
entry fee. Although entrants after
Oct. 19 will not receive a shirt with
registration, there will be plenty
available for sale at the festival site
at Seaside (intersection of N. C.
Highways 179 and 904).
The race course is a flat, out-and
back design, along Ocean Blvd.
West with aid stations and split
times available at the one and three
mile points.
In addition, there will also be
post-race refreshments available
and an awards ceremony at the
event's conclusion.
