New Juried Arts And Crafts f _ _ f f m At a #^ii^lc on ow urrers %j>ovw u i ^uoi ? nrrui uo From delicate porcelain dolls to original oils, arts and crafts afi cionados will find something to their liking at the N.C. Oyster Festival Arts and Crafts Show. And this year, for the first time, show participants had the option of entering a juried competition that offers $600 in cash awards. A $300 award will be presented for best of show, said Holden Beach area artist Vic Gillispie, chairman of the show. Also, a $100 first prize is offered in each of two divisions, crafts and arts, with $50 prizes for second place. "This gives people a chance to win some awards and a chance for them to make some more money." Also, he said, the transition to a juried show should enhance the overall quality of the show. "We have some good artists and crafts men participating," he continued, "but we want even more. I don't see why we can't have a show as good as anybody's. We have a beautiful place for them to come." Exhibitors and fair-goers should enjoy the easier access to this year's arts and crafts show, he said, with two entrances into the area, more corner booths and shorter rows turned at right angles to the fair ground buildings at Sea Trail Plantation. "I think that's really going to improve access as well as helping with the look of the overall show," said Gillispie. In late September these exhib itors had entered the show, with approximately 100 expected by the October 11 deadline: Barbara Adcock, Charlotte, oil paintings and oil art craft; Estelle Alexander, Morganton, handcrafts, pine cone and woodcraft; Peggy Anderson, Greensboro, porcelain dolls; Rebecca Anthony, Wilmington, bas ketweaving; Connie Barr, Rich mond, Va., water colors, framed art; Louise Bobay, Charlotte, names in terpretation, framed; Ruby C.
