JAMES M. BAREFOOT
James M. Barefoot, 65, of Thorn -
asville, died Nov. 13 in Community
General Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1924, in
Columbus County to the late Walter
Ashford and Katie Clyde Bonham
Barefoot. He was retired from Tho
masville Furniture Industries.
Barefoot was a member of Hill
side Baptist Church, where the fu
neral was held Nov. 15. Burial in
Holly Hill Memorial Park Ceme
tery.
Survivors include his wife. Hazel
Walton Barefoot of the home; two
sisters, Mrs. Pauline McKeithan of
Holdcn Beach and Mrs. William
Tetterton of Norfolk, Va.; and a
brother, Charles A. Barefoot of
Winston-Salem.
Family members asked that
memorials be made to Hospice of
Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941,
Lexington, N.C. 27292, or to
Hillside Park Baptist Church, Holly
Grove Road, Thomasville, N.C.

HENRY HARRELL JR.
Henry Harrell Jr. of Wilmington
died Nov. 14 in New Hanover
Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was conducted Nov.
16 at Andrews Mortuary Market
Street Chapel, with burial in Oak
dale Cemetery.
Bom in Hartford, Conn., Jan. 17,
1919, he was the son of Mrs. Alma
May Harrell of Wilmington and the
late Henry Harrell. He was a mem
ber of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his moth
er include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle
Rivcnbark Harrell of the home;
three sons, Henry Harrell III and
David George Harrell, both of Oc
ean Isle Beach, and Frederick Ray
Harrell of Wilmington; two daugh
ters, Mrs. Sharon Harrell Brady of
Bradcnton, Fla., and Miss Sheilah
Harrell of Ocean Isle Beach; and
seven grandchildren.

WARREN C. LANIER MOORE
Warren Chrislhpor Lanier Moore
of Jabbertown Road, Soulhport,
died Nov. 15 at Dosher Memorial
Hospital from injuries sustained in a
shooting accident.
The funeral was held Nov. 20 at
Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church,
Southport. Burial was in Drew
Cemetery, Soulhport.
CATHERINE D. RANDOLPH
Catherine D. Randolph of Bolivia
died Nov. 18 at New Hanover
Memorial Hospital, Wilmington.

J. ANSON SMITH
The Rev. J. Anson Smith, 75, of
Route 1, Ash, died Nov. 16 at his
residence.
The funeral was held Nov. 18 at
New Britton Baptist Church, Ash.
Burial was in the church cemetery,
with masonic rites accorded by
Shallotte Lodge No. 727, A.F. &
A.M.
Smith was a Baptist minister for
52 years and held charges in North
and South Carolina. He was a mem
ber of the Brunswick Baptist Asso
ciation and served on its executive
board. He was a member of the Col
umbus-Dock Baptist Association
and served on its executive board
for 40 years. He was a member of
Shallotte Lodge No. 727, A.F. &
A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Annie
Eliza Simmons Smith of the home;
three daughters, Helen K. Inman
and Nellie S. Rising, both of Shal
lotte, and Mary K. Kitchens of At
lanta, Ga.; a brother, Robert Davis
Smith of Ash; three sisters, Margie
Benton, Mary King and Nancy
Smith, all of Ash; and six grandchil
dren.

Missionary
Baptist Church,
will celebrate
her 104th birth
day Saturday,
Nov. 25. The
event will be
held at the home
of her daughter,
retired educator
Blanchie Gause.

from all across the states have made
their way to Brunswick County to
help make this a memorable occa
sion for her.

annual Woman's Home and Foreign
Missionary Institute Monday, Nov.
27, at 7 p.m.

reappointment of its pastor, the Rev.
Lester Powell Jr., for another year.
He was reappointed at the de
nomination's recent annual confer

Gause. "We're looking forward to
working diligently with Rev. and
Mrs. Powell during the coming
year," said she and Pastor's Aid
Chairperson Mildred Bellamy.
