Mon-Sat 10-6 HOLDEN BEACH RD , SHALLOTTE Shallotte Town Board Spreads Holiday Cheer Scroogc and The Grinch were nowhere in sight last Wednesday night when the Shalloilc Board of Aldermen gathered at town hall. With the Christmas holiday on their minds, board members approved $75 bonuses for all 19 town employees and voted to give employees two days off for the holi day instead of the one day they've gotten in the past As always, the town will also give a Christmas party for employ ees and their families This year's pig picking will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, in lieu of the regular town meeting that night. Though town employees will have two days off this year, the town will continue to operate as normal except for Christmas Day. With Christmas falling on a Monday this year, half of the work ers will take off Friday and the oth er half will take off Tuesday. Everyone gets off Christmas Day. In other business last week, the board backed up and set a public hearing for Jan. 3, 1990, on several zoning changes. Aldermen had adopted a new set of zoning ordi nances at its last meeting, but had not advertised that the zoning of some lots would be changcd under the new zoning map. The board also plans to meet with a consultant with the state Division of Community Assistance in the near future to discuss the possible establishment on an extraterritorial area. If the town sets up the juris dictional area, it would be able to enforce its zoning laws and subdivi sion regulations and the state build ing code as far as one mile outside the town limits. Last week's hour-long town meeting also featured a 20-minutc executive session called to discuss a legal matter with the town attorney. The board took no action following the closed session.
