During the training, students re ceived instruction in drill and cere monies, weapons, map reading, tac tics, military courtesy, military jus tice. first aid, and Army history and traditions. Returns From Panama U.S. Army Spec. William Ed ward Gore Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., has returned safely to the United States after being stationed in Pana ma from Oct. 5 through Jan. 29. A cargo specialist, Gore is home based at Fort Eustis, Va. He has received several achievement awards for his outstanding work performance while in Panama. He is the son of Wiiliam and Ann Marie Gore of Philadelphia, Pa., and formerly of Longwood, and the grandson ot Edward an a Kutft Janet Thomas of Longwood. His sister, Jacquclinc Gore, resides in Long wood. Reports For Duty U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Travis E. Danford, son of Louise H. Danford of Route 1, Supply, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Mid way, nomeported in Yokosuka, Ja pan. A 1971 graduate of Elizabeth town High School, Elizabcthtown, Danford joined the Navy in Febru ary 1972. Speaks To Students Supply native Doris Lec Tucker Thornton, nutrition administrator with the Division of Special Ser vices' Supplemental Food Program in Washington, D.C., recently pre sented a program on nutrition to second-graders at Bolivia Elemen tary School. Mrs. Thornton, sister of Bolivia second-grade teaching assistant Nancy Vcrcen, is a graduate of the Brunswick County Training School and North Carolina College at Dur ham, with a graduate degree from the University of Maryland. She is a member of various health organiza tions including the American Diete tic Association and the American Public Health Association. Symphony To Play At Caswell Beach The North Carolina Symphony Orchestra will perform a classic conccrt Saturday, March 31, at 8 p.m. in Hatch Auditorium on the grounds of the N.C.
