Irojans Fail At Uuiz Bowl The West Brunswick High Scho ol Quiz Bowl team was eliminated from state competition Saturday at the district championships in Laur inburg. A first-round loss to Tabor City knocked West Brunswick out of the annual academic competition, said team sponsor Jim Price. West earned the right to represent Brunswick County in the district Quiz Bowl competition by defeat ing teams from South Brunswick and North Brunswick high schools in January. It was the sccond con sccutivc year that West Brunswick won the county championship. Price said three West Brunswick team members were unable to take part in the district competition Sat urday because of other commit ments. He said several alternates were used. "The good part is that they've got the experience," said Price. "Three of them are juniors, and they'll be back next year." Control Thermostat For Ideal Climate An upcoming workshop sponsor ed by Brunswick Community Col lege and Brunswick Electric Mem bership Corp. focus on indoor cli matc control. Workshop leader Johnny Calhoun of Honeywell Corporation will ex amine programmable thermostats for home heating and air condition ing, equipment and controls for en crgy savings and establishing "a perfect climate" in ihc home. The workshop will be held Tues day, March 27, at 6 p.m., in the air conditioning, heating and refrigera tion classroom in the Vocational Building at BCC. Record-Keeping Is Focus Of Seminar Personnel rccord-kccping re quirements, particularly for small businesses, will be the focus of a seminar offered Monday, March 26, by the Smaii Business Center at Brunswick Community College. The session will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the multipur pose room of the ALS Building at RCC Presenter Tim Whitener will ex amine the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Cobra, Immi gration Reform Control Act, OS HA, EEOC, ERISA and others. He will offer tips on how to ease ad ministrative burden while remaining in compliance with requirements. Board Certified and Recertified #16 Medical Center Dr., Supply, 754-9166 Men Sought In Assault The Brunswick County Sheriff's Department remained on the look out Tuesday for two men suspcctcd of assaulting an Ash area man March 11 outside the victim's resi dence. Sheriff's DeL Lindsay Walton said Tuesday that arrest warrants were issued last week for Timothy Harold Price, 23, and Dean Price, approximately 28, both formerly of N.C. 130, Ash. The detective said both men face charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. The two suspects moved from the area within a day after the incident and cannot be located, Walton said. He added that the sheriff's depart ment has notified law enforcement agencies throughout both North and South Carolina to attempt to locate the men. They arc accused of assaulting Dennis Ray Lowery Jr., 21, in Town and Country Mobile Home Park on Route 1, Ash. Lowery told authori ties that he arrived home from an Ash area establishment and was met in the driveway by the two men. who he said were armed with a strip of aluminum and a knife. Lowery reported that the men ac cused him of causing a disturbance outside the establishment earlier that night and assaulted him, even though he denied their accusation. He suffered cuts on the forearm, chcst and back that required treat ment at The Brunswick Hospital, Supply. He was released from care. Shelter Has Pups A variety of mixed breed puppies arc available this week at the Bruns wick County Animal Shelter. Animal Control Supervisor Zel ma Babson said the puppies arc be tween five and nine weeks old and arc adorable. Also up for adoption this week is a friendly male shepherd. Ms. Bab son said the blond dog is approxi mately one and a half years old.
