South Carolina Man Crashes Into Supply Man's Vehicles A South Carolina man escaped injury early Sunday when his car crashed inlo two vehicles parked outside a Supply area residence. N.C. Highway Patrol spokesper son Ruby Oakley said the accident happened Sunday at 3:10 a.m., five miles north of Shallottc on U.S. 17, and involved Jonathan J. Bloch. 32, of Conway, S.C. Ms. Oakley said Bloch's 1989 Ford ran a stop sign from a side road and shot across U.S. 17 at a high rate of speed. His car hit a parked 1987 Chevrolet and pushed it into a parked 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck. Both parked vehicles were owned by Sheldon Pigott of Supply. Bloch, who wasn't hurt, left the accident scene but was apprehended 20 minutes later by Trooper J.V. Dove, Ms. Oakley said. Dove charged Bloch with driving while impaired and leaving the sccnc of an accident. The trooper estimated damages at $3,000 to Bloch's car, S6.000 to Pigott's car and $5,000 to his truck. In another accidcnt, a Shallottc teen-ager was slightly hurt when his pickup truck wrccked near Shallot tc. Ms. Oakley said the mishap oc curred last Thursday at 9:20 p.m., 3.8 miles north of Shallottc on Civictown Road, and involved 16 year-old Barry Lee Chadwick. The teen's 1988 Ford truck was headed north when it ran off the right side of the road in a curve and overturned, Ms. Oakley reported. She said that Chadwick complained of minor injuries but apparently did not require emergency medical care. Trooper D.B. Harvcll charged Chadwick with exceeding a safe speed and estimated damage to the truck at $5,000. Check Forgery Charges Filed A Supply teen-ager was arrested last week for allegedly forging two of his mother's checks, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department. Anthony Locust, 19, was charged Friday with two counts of forgery and uttering, said Del. Kevin Holdcn. The teen was being held Monday in the Brunswick County Jail under a $2,000 sccured bond. A report on fde at the sheriff's department states that Locust's mother, Bessie L. Bellamy, reported April 10 that she discovered two checks had been taken from her checkbook and cashed in her son's name. The amounts of the checks were not listed in the report The alleged forgery and uttering incidents oc curred March 28 and 30. Man Arrested On Assault Charge A Bolivia area man was arrested Saturday in connection with an as sault earlier this month outside a nightspot near Supply. Archie Williams, 29, of Route 1, Bolivia, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting se rious injury and carrying a con cealed weapon, according uj Biuns wick County Sheriff's DcL Kevin Holdcn. Sheriff's department reports indi cate that the assault charge stems from an incident in which Arron Simmons, 35, of Route 2, Supply, was beaten in the parking lot of the Ball Diamond Joint on N.C. 211 near Lockwood Folly Township District Park. Williams allegedly re trieved a large pistol from his vehi cle and struck Simmons about three times on the head with the weapon. He required stitches for a three-inch laceration on top of his head. Holden said the weapon charge against Williams was filed Saturday after lawmen took him into custody and found a "butterfly" knife in his possession. Department Investigating Theft At Lcca! Business County lawmen Monday were in vestigating a break-in and theft re ported last Thursday at a Shallotte area store, according to a report on file at the Brunswick County Sher iff's Department. Jackie Soles of Harrelson's Farm Supply on U.S. 17 south of Shal lotte told officers that the business was entered sometime between 5:15 p.m. last Wednesday and 8 a.m. last Thursday. The intruder gained entry by cut ting a five-foot-wide hole in a greenhouse wall and then prying open a back door to the main build ing. The only item stolen was a chainsaw worth $200, although the thief also entered the store's office. Damage was estimated at $85. An Ash area farmer also reported a break-in and theft last week at his warehouse on Ash-Little River Road near N.C. 904. Willie Ward of Route 1, Ash, said someone entered his warehouse be tween 5 p.m. last Thursday and 9:15 a.m. Friday. Stolen were two grind ers, a tool box and assorted tools. Theft loss was placed at $624. Also, Earl David Walter Jr. of Columbia, Md., told the officers that a storage bin he rented at Mini Warehouse Storage on Hale Swamp Road was broken into between Dec. 27 and Friday. CRIME REPORT The thief got inside the storage bin by cutting a padlock off the door, then removed six porcelain household lamps worth $120. Homes Entered The sheriff's department Monday also was looking into several resi dential break-ins that were reported over the past week. Larry W. Nail of Calabash said someone entered his condominium in Building Four of Carolina Shores Resort on N.C. 179 last Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. There was no sign of forced entry. Missing property included $700 in cash, $2,000-worth of jewelry, an $800 knife collection and cowboy boots. The property was listed in value at $3,642. James O. Gray of Route 3, Le land, told lawmen that his mobile home on Chapel Loop Road was entered Friday between 4 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Suspects entered the trail er by removing an air conditioner from a back window. Stolen were a 19-inch Magnavox color television, a 19-inch black and-white television, a Magnavox telephone answering machine, a Scars cordless telephone and stereo equipment. The items were worth $815. Frank Hancock of Racford re ported that his rcsidcncc in Bcliamy Heights off Stanbury Road was en tered between March 9 and Satur day morning. The intruder pried open a back door to gain entry. Property worth $585 was stolen, including a Panasonic radio-cassette player, six cassette tapes, a tele phone-clock radio, a chess set, bino culars, a tool box, assorted tools, a West Bend wall clock and a Wind mere fan. Jerry D. Draughn of Joncsvillc said someone broke into a shed at his dwelling in River Bend Estates. A Pioneer chain saw worth $350 was taken. Other Thefts In other thefts reported to the sheriff's department, Dcwitt Tarlton of Charlotte told deputies that an F&W water pump worth $250 was stolen from outside his mobile home in Ocean Trail II subdivision. Also, a stolen car report last Thursday night was determined to be unfounded. Glenn Parker of Route 7, Shalloltc, said his 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was stolen from the yard of his rcsidcncc on Brooks Drive, Seaside.
