Photo Contest Ends June 22 Area amateur photographers have until Friday, June 22, to enter a con test sponsored by the Brunswick County Parks and Recreation De partment. The theme of the contest will be coastal North Carolina rivers, streams, lakes and intercoastal wa ter ways. Photographs must be taken dur ing the months of April, May and June, and depict the coastal North Carolina region, said Emma Thom as McGraw, special events coordi nator. The photos may be in color or black and white, and must be either 5 inchcs by 7 inches or 8 inches by 10 inchcs. They should be matted and ready for hanging. Individuals may enter two pictures in each cate gory. On the back of each photograph should be listed the date taken, name and address of photographer entering it, title giving sentence de scription of area represented, type of camera used and related informa tion. Photographs may be delivered to the department's office at Bolivia or mailed to Brunswick County Parks and Recreation Department, P.O. Bex 249, Bolivia, N.C. 28422. VIC Extends Cutoff For Award Nominees The deadline for nominating individuals and groups for recog nition as outstanding volunteers has been extended by the Bruns wick County Volunteer and In formation Center to May 15. Shirley Carroll, executive di rector, said the extension was ap proved by the agency's directors at their April 24 meeting. Applications will be judged by D.O.V.I.A., the Directors of Vol unteers In Action chapter of Wil mington. The top four selected will be submitted to Raleigh by the June 15 deadline for consideration for the Governor's Award. Categories for recognition in clude youth, one-on-one, school, church, volunteer administrator, community service and human service, among others.
