Ocean Isle l?Y I KKKY mi'K Drug Defendant Receives Active Sentence An (Xean Isle Bcach man was given a seven-year active prison sentence Monday after pleading guilty to cocaine trafficking charges in Brunswick County Superior Court. Perry Wallace Neville pleaded guilty to one count of selling cocaine to undercover officers and one count of trafficking in more than 2X grams but less than 2(X) grams of cocaine from a relative's home in Robeson County. Lt. David Crocker, head of the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department narcotics division, said the case stemmed from an undercover officer's purchase of a half ounce of cocaine from Neville on April 26 and an other purchase of one and a half ounces of cocaine on June 1 of this year. Detectives llien followed Neville to a home in Robeson County owned by Stacey Oxcndinc, Crockcr said. Half a kilogram of cocaine was sci/ed at the home. Oxcndinc faces chargcs in Robeson County Superior Court, Crockcr said. In court Monday, Judge Giles R Clark sentenced Neville to a seven-year aclivc sentence on the traffick ing charge. Judge Clark also handed down a five-year suspended sentence for the sale of cocaine charge and placed Neville on five years' supervised probation to begin at the expiration of his active prison sentence. Neville was ordered to pay SI,250 in restitutions, S750 to the State Bureau of Investigation and S5(X) to the Brunswick County Undercover Fund. In other cases heard Monday in Superior Court: ?William Leroy Faircloth Jr. of Grisscttown rc ccivcd a live-year suspended sentence alter pleading guilty to possession of marijuana, felonious possession of stolen goods and possessing a weapon of mass de struction. Judge Clark placed Faircloth on three years' supervised probation and fined him SI ,(XX) He received a five-year suspended sentence. Samck for possessing crack cocainc. ?Roscoc Roberts of Lcland was given a 12-year ac tive prison sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of second degree rape Roberts was originally charged on nine different sex offenses involving minors, said Del. Nancy Simpson with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department. ?Jerry L. High of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., will await sentencing on two counts he pleaded guilty to in court Tuesday. High pleaded guilty to one count of con spiracy to traffic in more than 400 grams of cocainc and one count of possession of more than 400 grams of co cainc. Crocker said the ease stems from two incidents in December 1987 and January 1988. High was indicted in June 1989 on two counts of conspiracy to traffic in more than 400 grams of cocainc and three counts of trafficking in more than 400 grams of cocaine.
