Deaths And Funerals JOHN MARTIN SHYTLE John Martin Shytle, 95, of Rouie I, Supply, died Oct 10 at his resi dence. He was a retired automotive mechanic. The funeral was Oct. 12 in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Thomas and the Rev. Dan Norman officiating. Bur ial was in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Supply. Bom in Cleveland County on May 19, 18^5, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Queen Shytlc. He w as a World War I veter an of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ona Robinson Shvlle of the home; a son, John M. Shytlc of Supply; a daughter. Elizabeth S. Schroeter of Supply; three grandchildren and four grcat-grandchildren. SAMUEL SHERWOOD SOLOMON Samuel Sherwood Solomon, 47, of Route 1, Shallotte. died (\ t 10 at his residence. A graveside service was held Oct. 13 at Person Memorial Park.. Kox boro, with the Rev. Dan Norman of ficiating. He was a retail merchant associat ed with Victoria's Ragpatch in Cala bash and a member of Warrens Grove Methodist Church in Rox boro. Born in Roxboro on Feb. 5, 1943, he was the son of Edith S. Solomon and the late Paul Solomon. Survivors in addition to his moth er include his wife. Shirley S. Solo mon of the home; five sisters, Cor rine Lxigan of Wilson, Polly Weddle of Winston-Salem. Shirley Hamlett of Roxboro. Lou Conques of San Antonio, Texas, Vicki Jones of Shallotte; three stepsons, Gary Dale Tvree of New Hope, Rickie Allen Tyrec of Lake Waccamaw and George L. Clark III of Raleigh; a stepdaughter. HOLLAND PFRNELL WARD Holland Pcrnell Ward. 50, of Turnpike Road, Supply, died Oct. 14 in The Brunswick Hospital. The funeral was to be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Ml Pisgah Baptist Church in Supply, with the Rev. Truette Rogers and the Rev. Landis Lancaster officiat ing. Bunai was to be in the Riicy Sellers Cemetery. Ward was bom in Supply on Nov. 11, 1939, and was the son of the late Holland Tine and Hettic Phelps Ward. He was a member of The Lees Lake Hunting Club. WILLIAM KING SR. The Rev. William King Sr., 67, of Sncads Ferry, died Oct. 14 at his residence. He was a retired United Methodist minister, having served churches in Brunswick County and elsewhere in southeastern North Carolina for 30 years. The funeral was held Oct. 16 at Sncads Ferry United Methodist Church, with Dr. Sam McMillan, district superintendent of the church, and the Rev. Richard H. Parker and the Rev. Tracy Vamum officiating. Burial was in the Midget! family cemetcry. King was a native of Onslow County, a son of the late Hill and Mary Elizabeth Padgett King. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 11 and a member of Stump Sound Masonic Ixxlge No. 733, A.F. & A.M. Survivors include his wife, Millie King; a son. William Bennett, a Brunswick County native and well known conser vative Baptist minister, will be the guest speak er at the annual session of the Brunswick Bap list Association Oct. 25 and 26. The session, which is the as sociation's an BENNETT nual business meeting, is divided between two locations. It meets starting at 3 p.m. Thursday at Ocean View Baptist Church on N.C. 179 near Seaside, and resumes at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Shallottc. Bennett is a native of the Hick man's Crossroads community, where he w as a member of Bculah Baptist Church. Since 1988 he has served as pastor of the rapidly-growing North west Memorial Baptist Church in Houston, Tc*as His hobbies include politics and government. He w ill speak during both days of the session, reporting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on his recent participation in an evangelistic crusade in the Soviet Union and Romania result ing in 7,(XX) decisions for Christ and delivering the 11 a.m. sermon Fri day. A strong believer in the inerrancy of the Scripture. Bennett graduated with highest honors from Wake Forest University, earned a master's of arts and a master's of divinity from Duke University and his doc torate in theology from New Or leans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has authored three books, the most recent being Thirty Minutes To Raise The Dead, on expository preaching.
