CHURCH BRIEFS Performances Set By Mt. Pisqah The youth and adult choirs ol Ml Pisgah Baptist Church of Supply will present Christmas musicals the next two weekends that arc open to the public. The adult choir will present Cele brate I he Child Performances have been scheduled Sunday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 23, at II a.m. at the church. The youth choir will present Once Upon A Christmas Sunday, Dec. 23, at 6 p.m. The musical tells the story ol Grandma Dobbins as she faces her first Christmas alone. She meets five unusual characters in the form of ornaments who remind her of past Christmascs, Cantata Scheduled The adult choir of Shell Point Baptist Church at Shell Point will present the Christmas cantata. Kins Forever, Sunday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Donald Hardwick, pas tor, will Ik? directing. Shell Point Baptist Church is lo cated on Shell Point Road of N.C. 1 V) East, Hoi den Beach Road. Also, on Thursday, Dec. 20, school-age youths of the church will go caroling. Eddie Hicks, minister of music and youth, will direct. 'Che musical uses traditional Christmas carols, newly composed songs and Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus", Soloists arc Debbie Evans, Wyatt Gordon, Jesse Powell Jr., Mike Kirkland and Cheryl Shew. Ilic Rev. Wayne Trcxler, pastor, will fill the role of Benjamin, a scholar who studies the prophecies concerning the coming of Christ. Dean Holdcn, Tom lluskey and Jeff Johnson will portray the Wise Men. P.d Boss and Terry Pierce arc sound and iig'nt technicians for the production. Preceding the musical, the adult handbell choir and Amarcua Prc vattc, organist, will combine efforts to provide a festive arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard on High." CEDAR GROVE AREA NEWS Choirs Convened In Southporf BY RARIiAKA T. IIEWETT f-irst Baptisi Church of Southport served as host for the other 11 churches of the Choirs Confed eration Sunday, Dec. 9. This group has been meeting the sec ond Sunday of each month for nearly a half IIK.WKIT century without regard for denominational lines. Their object appears to be a uni fied voice of praise in songs. Affiliated churches arc Cedar Grove, Big Macedonia and Little Macedonia of Supply; St. John, Piney Grove, '/.ion Hill and Rutland Chapel of Bolivia; St. James, Ken dall Chapel, Bethlehem and Chris tian Chapel of the Leland-Winna bow area. The public is always welcome to attend their gatherings. Weekend Blood Drive Slated Shallottc area rcsiilonts can give the gill of life during this Christmas holiday season by donating bUnnl. The South Brunswick Interchurch Council will be sponsoring a com munity bUnnl drive Saturday, Dec. 22, at Calvary Baptist Church in conjunction with the American Red Cross. Hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; participants should allow one hour for the donation time re quired. Calvary Baptist Church is Incalcd on N.C. 179 in Shallotte. Blinxi donors should be between the ages of 17 and 75, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors should not have had hepati tis, cancer, heart disease or have been exposed to AIDS. The intcrchurch council is a coalition of ministers and lay per sons from area churches concerned with meeting human needs. CPR Course Begins Jan. 2 Ambulance attendants and other emergency volunteers can refresh their skills with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) class that be gins Jan. 2 at the Soulhport Rescue Squad Building. Offered by the Brunswick Com munity College Continuing Educa tion Department, the class will con tinue through Jan. 8. There is no registration charge for fire, rescue and law enforcement deparuncnt members or stale resi dents age 65 and older to take the class. All others will pay a $25 fee at the first class meeting. Registration will be held at the class site on East Nash Street from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2. CPR btH)ks have been donated by Pfizer Inc. for in-class use. Personal copies may be purchased for S9 at the classes. Participants are encouraged to bring their own |K>ckei face masks to class.
