Arts Festival To Feature Reid Danccr and actress Pamela Rcid will be the featured guest artist Friday, March 8, at the fifth annual black Arts Festival, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Brunswick Community College. The event was rescheduled from February bccause of inclement weather. Along with Ms. Rcid, the line-up of performers includes a mix of out of-town and local artists. Local performers will include Lawahna Gardner, a vocalist from South Brunswick High School, Janic Johnson of Supply and Claire Hankins of Bolivia. The Andre A. Minkins Play wrights' Showcase Ensemble of Ra leigh will present a dramatic per formance. Artwork by South Brunswick and West Brunswick high school stu dents will be exhibited as well. Ms. Rcid founded the Black Arts Festival during her tenure as BCC Visiting Artist from 1986-1988. She is presently Visiting Artist at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville. Dates for this year's event have changcd from Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20 to Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19. Activities will begin at noon Friday and continue through Saturday, offering seafood, arts and crafts, entertainment and amusement rides for the entire family. The Band of Oz will perform Friday night and Saturday, said Kathi Grissctt of the South Brunswick Islands Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event. Established in 1967 on a part-time basis. The Band of Oz went full time in 1977. The group plays beach music and top 20 hits across the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia.
