J Laura Marie Brust and Nailer Nassim-Sobhan were married July 5 at 1 1 a.m. in Sacrcd Heart Catholic Church in Southport. The Rev. Jem Sullivan of Greens boro officiated the double ring cere mony. the first marriage to take place hi ihc fiC W church itiCiiiiy. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Brust of Ocean Isle Beach. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Habib Nassim-Sobhan of Iran. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore her mother's wedding dress, an off-white gown with short sleeves covered in lace and tulle al ternating bands and surplice neck. Her floor-length veil made by her mother was attached to a coronet accented with rosebuds and a siring of pearls. The bride carried a bou quet of roses in different shades of pink. Alison Ann Brust, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Ann Uckcri and Mary P. Phillips, sisters of the brute. They wore sage green gowns with a lapesiry bodice. The gowns featured small cap sleeves and heart-shaped necklines. The bridesmaids carried long stem roses in while and pink. The bride graduated from die University of North Carolina at Greensboro in IMS 7 with a B.A. de gree. She is a technical writer in Soulhbury, Conn. The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1986 with a B.S. de gree and received his master's de gree in 1989 from A .V T Slate Uni versity. He is a system design engi neer for IBM in Hast Fishkill, N.Y. Arriving at The Brunswick Hos pital at 10:15 a.m., he weighed 7 1/2 pounds and was 20 inches long. He joins other siblings Jury, Christopher, Atari and Bryana. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leslie James Devone of Wilmington. The child's great grandmother is Loma E. Devone of Atkinson. Paternal grandparents arc Mr. and Mrs. Robinson of Atkinson. Harrelson Larry and Julie Harrelson of Shallotte have announced the birth of a daughter, Suzannah Jean, on July 13 at The Brunswick Hospital. Arriving at 8:56 a.m., she weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 inches long. She joins a sister, Amelia Holt Harrelson. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Harrelson of Shallotte. Arriving at 12:33 p.m. at The Brunswick Hospital, she weigh ed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long. She joins a sibling, Logan Gail Vargo. By joining the Friends group, li brary users and backers support sev eral programs, she said, and also help spread the word to others about services provided through the library. For example, 128 students from preschool to 14 years of age arc sign ed up for Summer Reading Club. Their reading efforts will be recog nized July 31 at 3 p.m. with prizes and certificates. The Friends of the Library and the Bricrwood l-adics Book Club are hosting the event. Services available through die li brary include a variety of fiction, non-fiction and reference books, large-books lor the sight-impaired, magazines, paperbacks, phonograph albums, videos, books on cassette, audiovisual equipment for loan, photocopying and voter registration. Library cards arc available with presentation of a North Carolina driver's license with local address, or an identification card with a Brunswick County address. Proper ty owners who live elsewhere most of the tune must provide a copy of their deed or a property tax receipt in addition to their driver's license. Mrs. N icoi said the Friends group is pleased with local residents' re sponse so far and plans to continue soliciting memberships and other donations. Funds raised by the Friends will go to provide more and better pro grams, to asd in providing better us age and services and to expand the library facility, said Mrs. Nicol. Insurance Volunteers Certified Ten volunteers were recently cer tified alter completing Senior Health Insurance Information Program (S. H.I.I. P.) training offered through the Brunswick County Extension Service. The six-session program was conducted by Ida Perry, a represen tative of the N.C. Department of Insurance.
