gagement and forthcoming marriage of their granddaughter,
Ginny Gurganus, to John Tate Pridgen. Their wedding Hill take
place Saturday, Aug. 3, at .? p.m. at Jennies B ranch Baptist
Church. The bride-elect is the daughter of Pamela Bellamy Keesee
and Scott Gurganus, both of Shallotte. The groom is the son of
David and Judi Pridgen, also of Shallotte.

Pilots Send Delegate
To Atlanta Convention
Nellie Westbrook will serve as
ihe official delegate of the Pilot
Club of the South Brunswick
Islands to the international organi
zation's 70th anniversary conven
tion in Atlanta, Ga., July 27-31.
On the agenda are organizational
renewal efforts and discussion by
health professionals on various cate
gories of brain disorders, the organi
zation's focus for volunteer service.
Local clubs undertake projects to
improve the lives of those affected.
The South Brunswick Islands
Club has founded ACCESS, an or
ganization that acts as a countywide
resource for those with brain disor
ders and other types of handicaps.
The organization is directed by club
member Helen Laugisch.
Pilot Club International is a glob
al organization of executive, busi
ness and professional leaders work
ing together to improve the quality
of life in local communities and
throughout the world.
Lodge Plans To Build
Shallotte Woodmen of the World
Lodge No. 160 plans to build a lo
cal lodge hall, making plans to build
a local lodge hall.
Members approved building pro
gram plans at their July 15 dinner
meeting. President Tony Clayton, as
sisted by field representatives Larry
Hcuslcss and Jimmy Marshall, will
select the building site commiucc.
The lodge approved a swim party
to be held Saturday for Youth Lodge
No. 1415, and heard reports from
Treasurer Woodrow Russ and the
nursing home and flag committees.
The next meeting will be held
Aug. 19, said Marshall.
Elks Sponsor Campers
Calabash Elks Lodge No. 2679
recently sent eight local boys on a
two-week camping safari at North
Carolina Elks Hoys Camp in Hcnd
ersonville.
The campers, ranging in age from

manic Gore, Javier Gonzales, Saquan
Jones, Justin Bass, Paulo Soland and

Federal Employees (NARFE) will

discuss investments for retirees.
