Volunteer Team Needs Help
In Rebuilding Gutted House
Volunteers working to rebuild ihe home of a bunted out family in
the Shallottc area are in need of materials and additional labor.
Members of the Shallottc Point Volunteer Fire Department and Let
ties Grove Church arc working to rebuild the home of Estcllc lnman fol
lowing a June 2 fire that gutted the frame house on N.C. 179.
Mrs. lnman is staying temporarily with family members.
"It's just a hull," said Margie Milligan, whose husband, Maurice, is
pastor of Leuics Grove Church. "We had to tear everything out. We need
to completely rebuild it ? walls, ceilings, floors."
Since it must be rebuilt to current building code specifications, the
house will be better than before, said Mrs. Milligan.
This week volunteers expected to complete rewiring of the home
and flooring, but much remains to be done, she said, and the volunteers
arc low on resources.
"We welcome all the labor we can get as well as money," she said.
As of Monday the housing rehabilitation group had received S2.194,
which Mrs. Milligan was "not much to go on" given the scope of the pro
ject.
Needed arc donations of building supplies and household furnish
ings, or the money with which to purchase them.
Anyone interested in assisting is asked to contact the Milligans at
754-6913, the Shallotte Point VFD, or to send contributions directly to
the Estcllc lnman Fund, care of United Carolina Bank, Shallotte.
Support Group Forming
For Bereaved Parents
A support group for parents who
have lost a child through death is
forming in the Shallotte area.
An organizational meeting of the
local chapter of The Compassionate
Friends (TCF) will be held Tuesday,
Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at Brunswick
Chiropractic Center on U.S. 17
south of Shallotte.
TCF is a national, nonprofit orga

lost a child or children by death,
said Chris Judah, a local counselor
helping to organize the chapter.
The group charges no fees, dues
or other costs, 'hough donations
help defray the cost of newsletter
mailings.
TCF is founded on seven guiding
principles, said Ms. Judah. It offers
friendship and understanding to be
reaved parents; believes that be
reaved parents can help each other
resolve their grief in a positive way;
reaches out to all bereaved parents;
and understands that every bereaved
parent has individual needs and
rights.
TCF offers help primarily through
local chapters that belong to their
members, yet arc coordinated nation
ally to extend help to each other and
to individual, bereaved parents ev
erywhere.
More information on the local
chapter is available from either Pat
Hewctt or Ms. Judah.
