Seaside UMC Launches Fund Campaign
Seaside United Mcthtxiisl Church
launches a fund drive this week to
raise $230,000 in three years to re
duce indebtedness for construction
ol a new facility on N.C. 1'04.
"Visitors" from the church will
he contacting church members indi
vidually starting Sunday, Sept. 29,
at 1:30 p.m. seeking pledges to the
building fund, said Margaret Tatum,
campaign secretary.
A prayer vigil is planned
Saturday from noon to midnight at
the existing church site, a former
furniture store on N.C. 17') near the
Ocean Isle Beach causeway.
The Rev. Dr. Ernest R. Porter
kicked off the campaign Sunday as
guest speaker lor both worship ser
vices. A retired United Methodist
minister, he is executive director of
Church Funding Associates of Lake
Junaluska. and will direct the cam
paign at Seaside. He also addressed
a campaign volunteer dinner Tues
day night.
