The matron of honor wore a
street-length dress of candlelight
lace with overlaying Italian satin
and candlelight accessories.

white Navy uniform.

couple at the home of Capt. and
Mrs. David Vail in Charleston fol
lowing the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of West
Stanley High School in Oakboro.

mony.
The bride is the daughter ol Mr.
and Mrs. Barry Leonard of Shal
lotte. the granddaughter of Lettie
Long of Longwood and the late
Vinson Long. Annie Lou Leonard
of Shallotte and the late Layton
Leonard, and the great granddaugh
ter of Carrie Lovett of Ash.
She was given in marriage by her
father.
The groom is die son of Mr. and
Mrs. Marry Wilkes of Shallotte, the
grandson of Mildred Thompson of
Abbottsburg and Bill Thompson ol
Shallotte, and the late Andrew
Wilkes and the late Peggy While.
The bride wore a formal sheath
gown ol white crystal organza and
satin styled with a wedding band
collar and a fitted bodice. Wired
ruffles enhanced the leg-of-mutton
sleeves and circled the hem of the
fitted skirt. The bodice and sleeves
were embroidered with Guipure
lace and were heavily beaded with
pearls and sequins. A detachable
train designed with cascades of
wired crystal organ/a ruffles fell
from the satin bow at the back of
the waist.
Her headpiece of beaded alcncon
lace flowers was accented with
pearls and crystal sprays along the
face and featured a two-tiered, el
bow-length. lettuce-trimmed veil.
The bride carried a cascading
bouquet of red roses with red, white
and pink carnations, babies breath,
and red and while ribbons.
The iiuikI ol honor was Saiulra
Ward, sisler ol the groom. Other at
tendams were bridesmaid Donna
Wilkes, sister ol the groom; junior
bridesmaid Ashley Thompson, cou
sin ol the groom: and flower girls
Scarlett Wollc. cousin ol the bride,
and Sarah Beck.
The maiil of honor and brides
maid wore red satin gowns with
sabrina necklines ami hallarina
length skirts. The flower girls wore
ballarina-length white satin gowns
accented with a red sash at the waist
and red ribbons on the sleeves.
Best man was Harry Wilkes.
Ushers were David Bennett and
Michael L. Gore, cousins of the
bride, Davy Wilkes, cousin of the
groom, and junior groomsman Chad
Thompson, cousin of the groom.
Music was provided by The Al
larmen with piano accompaniment
by Linda Street.
JoJuan Somerset! served as wed
ding director for the service.
The reception following the cere
mony was given by the parents ol
the bride and held in the fellowship
hall of the church.
A rehearsal dinner was given by
the parents of the groom Sept. 28 at
Sims Bar-B-Quc.
Bridal showers were given by
Susan Bennett, Annie Ruth Bennett,
Kim Cheers, Sandra Ward, Julie
Bcck and Lisa Thompson.
The bride and groom arc both
graduates of West Brunswick High
School in Shalloltc.
After a honeymoon trip to Myrtle
Beach, S.C., the couple will reside
at Brick Landing, between Shallottc
and Ocean Isle Beach.
