CLUB BRIEFS Gwen Causey To Head North Carolina 1812 Society Gwcn Clcmmons Causey ol Supply has been installed as the 1991-94 presi dent of the North Carolina Society, U.S. Daughters ol 1X12. She was in stalled by na tional president Mrs. George E. ? Lundccn of C Y Sanford at the 1991 State Council Meeting held Sept. 28 at Greensboro College. Mrs. George E. Thompson of Emerald Isle, a native of Supply, will serve as chaplain. During Mrs. Causey's term, the National Society will observe its l(X)th anniversary (1992). The society's purpose is to pro mote patriotism and to preserve and increase knowledge of American history, particularly through the awareness of the deeds of those who helped shape the government and protect the country between the close of the American Revolution and the close of the War of 1812. Membership is open to women 18 and older with satisfactory proof of lineal descent of an ancestor who rendered civil, military or naval ser vice during the period 1784-1815, subject to approval of the society. Club Slates Auction Long Bay Garden Club members made plans for its November auc tion during its October 17 meeting at the home of Carol Roycroft in Shallottc. The club's main fundraising event of the year, the auction will be held Nov. 21 starting at 7 p.m. at the home of Tom and Vickie Jones til Shallottc. Crafts, recipe booklets and other items will he featured. At the October meeting, led by President Ann Laughinghouse, the club welcomed new member Doloris Evans; heard from Sybil McLamb that $50 was donated to Brunswick Adult Day Care Center to help in landscaping its Shallottc site: and gave Dianne Baxley the Ociobcr rating sheet award lor planting and recycling. Members also scheduled a wreath-making work session Dec. 7 at the West Brunswick Branch Library.
