DANIEL DURDKN SHANNON INEZ HARRELSON SHANNON Daniel Durden Shannon, 74, and Inez Harrelson Shannon, 75, of Long Beach, died Dec. 2 at their res idence. A memorial Mass of the Res urrection was conducted Dec. 6 at Sacretl Heart Catholic Church in Southport, of which both were members, by the Rev. John Carcich. Burial took place in Northwood Cemetery. Mr. Shannon was born July 7, 1917, in Boca Grand. Fla., and had lived there most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 11, a member of Oak Island VFW Post 10226, a charter member of the Brunswick County Board of Real tors, a founding member of Long Beach Fire Department and Rescue Squad and former acting town clerk for I^ong Beach. He was a retired re al estate agent, having founded and operated Shannon Services for a number of years. Mrs. Shannon was born April 27, 1916, in Funstori, and had lived there most of her life. She had re tired as a registered nurse from Dosher Memorial Hospital in South port, where she served as director of nursing for many years. She was a founding member of Long Beach Rescue Squad, a li censed real estate broker and a for mer director of the Southport-Oak Island Chamber of Commerce. Their survivors include two sons, Ronnie Shannon and Donnie Shan non, both of Long Beach; and five grandchildren. Mr. Shannon is also survived by five brothers, John Shannon of Jack sonville, Fla., Bill Shannon of Ml Scgundo, Calif., A1 Shannon of Charleston, S.C., Robert Shannon of Ogden and Pat Shannon of Wash ington. D.C.; and a sister, Jane Shannon of Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. Shannon is also survived by two brothers, Dan Harrelson of Southport and Walter Harrelson of Nashville, Tcnn.; and two sisters, Annie Laurie Myers of Long Beach and Maggie Lanier of Carolina Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to Long Beach Rescue Squad, the American Red Cross or the orga nization of the donor's choice. KDMOND BUTLER NICHOLS Edmond Butler Nichols, 63, of Wilmington died Dec. 7 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. Nichols was born April 7, 1928, in Erwin. the son of the laic Walter E. and Eva Smith Nichols. He at tended the Campbell College, Wake Forest University and the University of Florida. Nichols was also a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and had been president of Enterprise Oil Company until his retirement in 1970, when he entered the construc tion and real estate business and was the vice-president of Nichols and Associates Realtors. Survivors include Joyce C. Nichols of Wilmington; three sons, Christopher E. Nichols and Walter E. Nichols, both of Mandcvillc, La., and Simeon E. Nichols of Greens boro; three daughters, Pamela Sell ers of Southport. Meredith Conklin ol San Diego, Calif., and Ann Horan of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mary Susan Byrne of Wake Forest; seven grandchildren; and one great-grand daughter.
