beat North Brunswick 63-32 in non
conference action last Tuesday night
in Lcland.
Barbara Davis added 1 3 points lor
the 1-A Lady Bulldogs, who took a
7-0 lead with 5:20 to play in the first
quarter and never looked back.
Dixon led 13-6 after one quarter
and increased their lead lo 27- IS at
the end of the first half.
North Brunswick cut the margin
lo 27-23 when Tosha Robbins
scored with 5:51 remaining in the
third quarter.
But Dixon scored the next 10
points to take a 37-23 lead with 1:35
to play in the quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs led 44-29 go
ing into the last quarter, and scored
17 unanswered points to take a 32
point lead with 2:56 remaining.
Tosha Robbins led the Lady
Scorpions with 18 points. Ayo
Robbins added live points for North
Brunswick, and Michelle Bennett
chipped in with four.
North Brunswick (1-2) was
scheduled to play at Topsail Tuesday
night. The Lady Scorpions beat
Topsail 54-40 on Dec. 3.

Topsail Friday after losing at
Hoggard on Tuesday.
Erika Bryant had 17 points and
eight rebounds as the Lady Cougars
routed 1-A Topsail 79-20 last Fri
day.
Jodie Brown added 1 1 points lor
South Brunswick, which improved
its record to 4- 1 with the win.
Coco Nixon led Topsail scorers
with 10 points.

Hoggard High handed the Lady
Cougars their first loss of the season
last Tuesday night in Wilmington
with a 49-42 win.
The game was tied 17-17 after one
quarter, and the 4-A Lady Vikings
look a narrow 24-20 lead at halflimc.
Hoggard increased its lead to 37
30 after three quarters and held on
for the victory.
Tasha Sellers led South Bruns
wick with 15 points. Jennifer Full
wood added eight points, and Erika
Bryant and Latonya Hankins scored

team opened their season with a 41
38 non-conference win last Tuesday
night at Dillon, SC.
Catherine Bell scored 16 [tomis

l.ady Trojans, who were to play 4- A
Dillon again Tuesday night in
Shallotte.
"Overall I was pleased with the
performance," said West Brunswick
Coach Brenda Council. "It's always
good to win the first game."
West Brunswick took a 14-6 lead
in the lirst quarter and led 22-15 at
halflimc. The Lady Trojans in
creased their lead to 34-24 alter
three quarters.
Dillon rallied in the fourth quar
ter, outscoring West Brunswick 14
7, but caine up three points short.
Council said die Lady Trojans
were "terrible" from the Irec throw |
line last week, converting only three
of 14 attempts.
With tougher opponents on the
schedule. Council said West Bruns
wick will have to improve its foul
shooting and he more consistent re
bounding.

last week without several starters
who were still involved with foot
ball, trailed the entire game.
Mims said the Trojans cut the
lead to two [joints early in the fourth
quarter before Dillon went on a 6-0
run.
"I thought the young guys did a
good job under the circumstanccs,"
Mims said. "We played hard, and it
was a much closer ball game than
nine points."

put the game out of reach.
Besides leading all scorers in the
game, McGriff blocked seven shots
and grabbed 14 rebounds. White
made nine of his 17 points from
three-point land.
Butch Fullwood scored 10 points
for the Cougars, and Kevin Smith
scored all eight of his points in the
second half.
Pacing the Vikings were Todd
Cory with 18 points, Adam Carlson
with 13 and Kevin Robinson with
10.

ing quarter.

the quarter when Thomas Walker
nailed a three-pointer and led 22-21
with 3:15 remaining in the half.
North Brunswick look the lead for

a Waddell basket.
The bucket started a 7-0 run for
the Scorpions, who led 2X-22 with
1 :2 1 to play and 32-2X at the hall
Dixon cul the lead to 32-30 just
nine seconds into the third quarter,
but the Scorpions outscored the
Bulldogs 11-4 over the next three
minutes to take a 43-34 lead mid
way through ihe third quarter.
