VFW Post 7288 will 'hold its next
covered dish dinner Saturday, Feb.
15, at 6 p.m. at the post, with a
Valentine's theme, said spokesper
son Mary Benes.
The auxiliarists will next meet
Monday, Feb. 17, at the post at 6:30
p.m. for officers and 7:30 p.m. for
regular members.
Ms. Benes also announced that at
the district meeting in Leland re
cently, the Calabash auxiliary was
presented a certificate for complet
ing 100 percent membership in
January. The group was compli
mented as well for being the only
post that sends copies of all publici
ty to the district publicity chairper
son.

The Guys and Dolls Homemakers
Extension Club recently appointed
committee chairpersons for the com
ing year.
Serving arc the following: Bill

Alda Lewis and Jo DiCarlo, cultural

Harold Hoy, chaplain.

Pageant Slated
The Vamaintown Club is accept
ing applications for The Lockwood
Folly Pageant until Friday, March 6,
announced pageant director Mary
Dawson.
Girls and boys ages lour to seven
will compete in their Sunday best
and in sports wear. Mrs. Dawson
said, and girls ages eight to 18 will
compete in talent, evening or party
dress and sports w ear categories.
The application fee is S25 for res
idents of the Lockwood Folly area
and will go to help fund the 1992
Vamamtown Birthday Festival in
September.

Fire Department will serve barbecue
dinners from 1 1 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15,
to raise funds for the department,
announced Judy Clemmons, chair
person of the ladies auxiliary.
Plates will cost S3 each, and will
consist of barbecue, colc slaw, can
died yams and hush puppies, she
said.

On the menu arc hush puppies,
cole slaw, potato salad and candied
yams, along with plenty of barbe
cue, she said.
The cost of each plate is S3.50.
Profits will go to assist two squad
members, said Ms. Coulter. One
member's house burned down; the
other is a woman whose husband re
cently died.
