Local Entries Take Firsts At District Arts Festival Shalloitc area students claimcd 1 1 first-place awards in ihe District Woman's Club Arts Festival held Feb. 22 in Wallace, while the Shalloitc Junior Woman's Club unik one first. "Out ol all the categories entered by our students and clubwomen we took first place in almost all cate gories," said Cathy Payne, club spokeswoman. "What we did not gel first in we got second or third." Mrs. Payne said this was a "su perb showing of our community" in competition wiih several large coun ties. The Shallotic Junior Woman's Club received the Pat S. Mahl A ward for having the most blue rib bon entries in ihe district arts event. First-place winners in literature were as follows: Chris Smith, West Brunswick. 1 1 ih- 1 2th grade poetry: Sondra Gray, Shalloitc Middle, 7th Kih grade poelry; Bridget L. Hill.
