Caswell Trip Planned
The Holden Beach Beautification
Committee will sponsor a day trip to
Fort Caswell on Wednesday, March
18.
The trip will include a view of the
landscaping at Caswell Beach, a tour
of Fort Caswell and lunch at the
N.C. Baptist Assembly conference
center.
The committee needs at least 25
people for the trip, and the public is
invited to participate.
The gioup will meet at Holden
Beach Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. to
arrange a car pool. The cost will be
S5.75 per person, and reservations
are required.

Williamson Crowned 1992
Little Miss Brunswick County
Virginia Love Williamson was crowncd Little Miss Brunswick
County 1992 Saturday night in a pageant at Shallotte Middle School.
During her one-year reign, she will attend and perform at pageants,
festivals and other events, representing Brunswick County.
The nine-year-old daughter of DeCarol and Jan Williamson of Ocean
Isle Beach I nvc performed 2 jazz-gymnasl'C* routine m Strike It Hp for
her talent entry.
She was one of six contestants who competed in party dress, talent
and private interview for the tide.
First runner-up was Fallon Jade Walker, 9, daughter of Jerome and
Heidi Walker of Holdcn Beach, who tapped to In The Mood.
Second runner-up Robbyn Shavonnc Francis pci formed a classical pi
ano selection. She is die daughter of Artinas and Cheryl Francis of
South port.
Third runner up was Brandi Nicole Harrison. The six-year-old daugh
ter of George and Rcgina Harrison of Ash, she performed a ballet to
Ballerina Girl.
Lisa Dale Young, Miss Brunswick County 1991, served as mistress of
ceremonies.
Special guests included Chalmers Champion. Litde Miss Brunswick
County 1991; Crystal Williams, Miss Brunswick County 1992; Courtney
Pridgen, Little Miss Wilmington 1992; and the V'ettcs, a dance troupe
from Brunswick Sch<x>l of Dance.Thc pageant was co-sponsored by the
Shallotte Junior Woman's Club and Scholarship Pageants of Brunswick
County Inc.
Show, Workshop To Focus On Natural Scenery
Brunswick County landscapes
and seascapes will be the theme of a
juried art exhibition, painting work
shop and video production later this
month.

unity College has organized the
three activities through BCC and the
Brunswick Arts Council. There is no
chargc for any of the events.
Artists who reside in Brunswick
County may enter up to three pieces
in the show at no charge. Artwork
should be brought to Franklin
Square Gallery in Southport March
27 or 28 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
each day.
An opening reception will be held
April 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Awards created from "found beach
objects" will be presented in four
categories: oils, watcrcolor, mixed
media and three-dimensional.
On March 30 and April 1, Wein
stein plans to videotape the show as
well as interviews with the partici
pating artists. The resulting video
will be previewed in BCC's Teach
ing Auditorium on May 8 from noon
to 1 p.m., 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and again
from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The completed
version will be distributed to local
chambers of commerce, schools and
libraries.
The landscape workshop will take
place March 28 from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. in the art room on BCC's main
campus north of Supply. Ms. Wein
stein said participants arc invited to
work in any medium.
