Fish, Bands, Boat Rides On Tap For Day At Docks If free boal rides, a fish fry and live entertainment sound good to you, plan to be at Holden Bcach on Saturday for "A Day At The Docks." The one day festival at Holder! Beach Marina will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m., said spokesman Ronnie Rabon. "It's kind of a community throw together thing," Rabon said. "1 think it's going to grow to where it can be an annual event." The first "Day At The Docks" two years ago drew between 700 and 1,000 people. Volunteers served about 500 free fish plates. Fish dinners will cost S4 this year, with proceeds to be donated to the Holden Beach Water Rescue pro gram. Rabon, a member of the water rescue team, said the money will be used to buy equipment and educate residents and visitors about the po tential danger of rip currents and ocean swimming. Besides eating, festival -goers will also be able to tour a U.S. Coast Guard vessel and cruise the Atlantic Intracoaslal Waterway on charter fishing boats. The Brunswick Concert Band and the Sugar Loaf Ramblers, a blue grass group from Taylorsville, will entertain at the marina. Since it was formed five years ago, the local concert band has per formed spring and Christmas con certs and provided music for the Miss Brunswick County Pageant and other events. The volunteer group is a subsi diary of Brunswick Players, a non profit community theater group, and a satellite member of the Brunswick Concert and Theatrical Society. Rabon said the Greater Holdcn Beach Merchants Association, Hol dcn Beach Marina, the Holdcn Beach fishing fleet and WCCA ra dio station arc among the festival sponsors.
