Judge Hooks Gives Five Of Nine DWI Defendants Active Terms
Five of nine defendants sentenced
on driving while impaired charges in
Brunswick County District Court
last week received active jail terms.
Active sentences ranged f rom se
ven days to 24 hours in the Bruns
wick County Jail. Fines ir. cach case

Judge D. Jack Hooks Jr. found
nine persons guilty of driving while
impaired charges and allowed a mo
tion to dismiss charges against one
defendant during the ihree-dav ses
sion. '
Those not given active jail terms
were assigned community service
work, ranging from 24 hours to 48
hours, and susjiendcd sentences or
probationary terms.
They were among die following
