Brian Alderson struck out 1 1 and yielded only four hiLs as the Trojans ivat host West Columbus 7-2 last Tuesday in Waccamaw 2- A Conference action. Aaron Butler and Kcane Bellamy each had two hits for the Trojans, who look a 3-0 lead in the sccond inning and never trailed. Alderson improved to 2-0 as a pitcher and also had a triple for the Trojans. Greg Nobles hit a solo home run for West Columbus. Viking Tracksters Post Sweep The West Columbus boys' and girls' track teams swept North Brunswick and South Brunswick in a Waccamaw 2-A Conference tri mcet last Tuesday at Boiling Spring Lakes. The Vikings racked up 96 1/2 points for an easy win in the boys' meet. North Brunswick finished sec ond with 62 1/2 points, and the host Cougars placed third with 26 points. The Scorpions took second place despite winning seven events. North posted victories in the shot put, high jump, triple jump, 800-meter run, 3200-meter run, 400-meter relay and 3200-meter relay. South Brunswick's only wins came in the 800-mcter relay and pole vault, with Keith Burke clear ing 10 feet, 6 1/2 inches. The West Columbus girls had an even bigger win, scoring 102 points to outdistance South Brunswick with 32 and North Brunswick with 26. The Lady Vikings won nine out of 17 events. South Brunswick's girls won all four relays and picked up wins in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-me ter hurdles. The only victories for the North Brunswick Lady Scorpions were in the 200-meter run and 400-meter run. West Brunswick's Gore and Butler knocked in the two Trojan runs. Chesnec scored its only run on a fielder's choice after Gore had is sued two walks. Coach Alderson said the visitors entered the game with a 13-1 record and the number two ranking in South Carolina. West Brunswick's only loss of the week was a 4-1 decision to Bymcs (S.C) last Friday night. The Trojans had eight hits in the non-conference game, but Adam Abhott drove in the only West Brunswick run with a fourth-inning double. Coach Alderson said the Trojans left nine runners in scoring position. West stranded runners on second and third three straight innings. "Wc were just flat," Alderson said. "The kids were thinking about the prom and weren't really focused on the game." West Brunswick entered this week's play with a 3-1 conference record and overall mark of 5-2. The Trojans were to play at East Bladen Tuesday, host Carrolton (Ohio) Wednesday and host South Brunswick today (Thursday).
